Metro for sale

Hey, anbody interested in a Metro?

 

It's a 1.3 auto, has been in my family since new and has a genuine 21,000 miles.

 

It was bought new by my great aunt, who used it for a while taking her husband around. When he died, she just put it in the garage and left it.

 

At some point while it was in the garage something was dropped on the bonnet, it now has a shallow dent.

 

In 1996, it was given to my mum, with 1,165 miles on the clock...

 

It was used for shopping, taking the dog out etc and was our only family car for a while.

 

There's a couple of small dents on the tailgate where my dad reversed into a wheelbarrow in the garage... There's also a chip in the windscreen from a stone on the A2, it's been there about 10 years though and has never been an issue at MOT time.

 

About 18 months ago, my mum bought a Peugeot 206 for some reason, and gave the Metro to my cousin who was apparently desperate for a car and was going to use it. Since then it's sat on the drive.

 

The MOT and tax are out. It's never been welded and at the last MOT there were no signs it would need any. That was 2 years ago though.

 

The body in general is good, there's rust starting on the front wings, the worst is pictured, but the rear arches are rust free as are the door bottoms etc as far as I know. I've not been underneath.

 

The interior's in good condition, the engine's good.

 

Gearbox can be a bit clunky and maybe not as smooth as it should be (I don't think they're ever that smooth though). Considering the mileage I'd be surprised if it's anything terminal, maybe just lack of use or that something needs adjusting. I did just make that up though, I know absolutely nothing about how it actually works.

 

It's in Hextable, Kent at my cousin's house at the moment.

I ran one of these for a couple of months, the clunky gearbox is normal on them if mine was anything to go by.

 

Got rid of it due to its terrible petrol consumption, I think I averaged about 25 mpg

I really haven't got the time to sort this out, and it's a bit small for my needs anyway.

 

So it really needs to go now, it's on my cousin's drive, they need the space and I've got nowhere to put it. I don't think another winter outside will do it any good.

 

I've stuck it on Ebay starting at £150 with an optimistic BIN of £300. Feel free to make me silly offers though, I don't want it to be scrapped and I'd rather take a hit on the price than see it crushed. I would like a bit of cash to put towards my sorting my Mini out though.

I dont know why, but I didnt see this thread previously, otherwise I would have stuck it on the Rover 800 site. There are quite a few Metro fanciers on there.

 

If it doesnt sell through Shit-bay, let me know.

Feel free to put it on there, I'd rather pull it off ebay and sell it to someone who actually wants it than offload it to some Mini-mong who gets it home, realises it has the wrong engine and weighs it in.

Stuck it up on the 800 site.

 

Good luck with selling it, hope it goes to good home. Though not very optimistic with all the mongs around today who scrap perfectly useable old cars just for the sake of it these days.

 

I'd buy it myself given the money, but I'm not being given any fucking money by anyone

I had a manual VP on a C plate, was always a good, reliable little car. Hope she finds a worthy home, if you were in Suffolk then I would be towing her home now..............
