scaryoldcortina Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 "Not Safe for Retro-Rides" I take a lot of pictures. Anything and everything that I find interesting (Digi pics are freeeeeee) and then I dump them in photobucket where they lurk, waiting to surprise someone on some forum. Some of them never appear, because they are not RR material (not a dig. Rules are Rules), and I've got nothing better to do so... Sometime in the last few years I have spotted some shite. First up is this tastefully modified Volvo 240under the bonnet... 2.3 turbo (innit) Shortly after these pics were taken his wife divorced him, and he rang me up offering the volvo for "only" £1500.
trigger Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 What kind of woman would want to divorce a winner like the owner of this? That has to be one of the best (for the wrong reasons) 240's I've ever seen! If the rest of the photos are like this then i can't wait!
eddyramrod Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I was really enjoying that Volvo until I got to the roof spoiler, that's just so wrong! 2.3 turbot is fine, but please tell me it's an auto, Volvo's manual boxes are just so shite they should be in BMWs!
scaryoldcortina Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 They aren't all that good. I have 60 odd pages of photobucket to go through. Audis next...I owned this, drove it once, lent it to Autofive. To be fair, this one was almost dead when A5 bought it. The bonnet ISNT open, lol
scaryoldcortina Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 Bought a Metro (sorry, Rover 100 kensington)Next day, swapped it for an XR4iWhich for some reason I lent to Autofive, and it broke. one for the camper shite thread.. Nothing to do with me, it's in the paintshop next door.Obv, not mine m8. RS2000 YKTNooooooo! UR privt plate is on da rong car!!!!!!!!
scaryoldcortina Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 Cavalier modified by local field...The police stopped (and then impounded, and later squashed) this 3.0 carlton. Seems the door wouldn't open (and the driver wouldn't open it...)you have to drive a long way to find Mi16 bits these days.Yorrkshire Hill farmer has a rotten rangerover, and a cortina shell.. haz idea!3 years ago. See the OMGratluk BMW shite isn't new. I like the wheels best, they R awsum
Drive-By Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Great stuff! the Swan Hunter roof rack would be a Scene holy grail surely!
autofive Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 im sensing a bit of a theme here in my defence - the red audi was hit with scarys recovery truck, while he was driving it. the black audi was on life support before i bought it and xr4i (a well known local car) was welcomed whereever it went by a chorus of "is that your 4i?" "I know that car" "the diffs fucked"
scaryoldcortina Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 It's not a theme, it's a commentary, lol. And, fwiw, I wasn't driving, I was stopped waiting for the 4x4 to pass. The one that didn't see me and drove straight into the truck at 30mph.... I know where I took this, but have no clue what it is or why it is there. Ending tonights dive into the recent past with this mondeo. Someone else got divorced for modifying this (after she caught him)
AXrescuer Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 The owner of this Mundano had slagged off RR the day before!
CreepingJesus Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 The big white thing up there, is one of those FWD Cadillacs from the 70's/80's. Eldorado, I think; tho' "Seville" keeps bobbing into mind. Great pics, tho'
scaryoldcortina Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 Why would anyone ever name a car after a failed BBC soap opera set in spain? I wanted to go to bed around 3 hours ago, captain Asperger has other ideas. Might as well find some more pics then.God almighty, an alfa arna...shit the bed, there's another one. Maybe some wierd force is attracting elderly alfas to this point in space.Yes, I'm pretty sure that is what happened. Ley lines or something. This was the worst corsa ever. I have more pics of it in varying states as it belonged to the muppet next door.Dimma-esque kitted pug 205Diesel. GR84VEG
scaryoldcortina Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 Shall I use the capri? or maybe the capri. No, I think I'll use the capri.corteeeenar it's that corsa againA reliant. I seem to have lots of pics of them too, both 3 and 4 wheeled.Another Capri! (I had 3 light blue mk3s in very quick succession - lovely louvres on this one, lol)You looking at my bird?
Rod/b Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 First the full message read "NO PARKING AT ALL. Offenders will be RAMMED with a FLATBED"?
Rod/b Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Oh, and is the owner of that Corsa some kind of massive spastic?
Drive-By Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Where were all these? It looks like Middlesbrough?
whitevanman Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Where were all these? It looks like Middlesbrough? If it was the Boro' surely they would all have been nicked by now.....................
scaryoldcortina Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 Where were all these? It looks like Middlesbrough? If it was the Boro' surely they would all have been nicked by now.....................I've never had a car stolen in Middlesbrough! Broken into, stolen from, vandalized etc, but never stolen. And no I can see one pic on the previous page that I took somewhere near the boro, but most of them are around Stanley.
scaryoldcortina Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 Took this today. You aren't normally allowed to take photos in this yard (A5 got shouted at once..) so I waited until after hours and climbed over the fence. Yes, this is another car that led to divorce, but this time it brought ridicule, humilation and bankruptcy as well. Now the car is, like the plan to revolutionise City life and create a truly british "car for london", coming apart at the seams.Enjoy!
AXrescuer Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Another Capri! (I had 3 light blue mk3s in very quick succession - lovely louvres on this one, lol) Is this the way to Amarillo.....
brammy777 Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Some class photos here, that bullit Metro is literally insane, I cannot think why someone would look at one and decide to make a narrow mess which has all the structural integrity of a tower made of cheese. Looks like there is some really intresting yards round your way.
Pillock Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 That Corsa looks like this from the front.... *Reaches over the top of own head from the rear, puts fingers in nostrils, and pulls up
pogweasel Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 The BULLIT car.... scrapped!!?? I cannot believe that a car so rare, valuable an unique (and which lest not forget was just a couple of years ago 'valued' as a concept / business at £1,000,000) has been scrapped. Incredible.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Another Capri! (I had 3 light blue mk3s in very quick succession - lovely louvres on this one, lol) Is this the way to Amarillo.....LOLZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
scaryoldcortina Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 The BULLIT car.... scrapped!!?? I cannot believe that a car so rare, valuable an unique (and which lest not forget was just a couple of years ago 'valued' as a concept / business at £1,000,000) has been scrapped. Incredible.I know, It's astounding. But it gets better - it did sell Mr original builder managed to flog it on before moving to the middle of the north sea (He is now a fitter/welder on an oil rig), even better, the buyer turned out to be the same guy who bought an "easy project" austin somerset a while back. After a forced visit to specsavers HE scrapped it, only for it to be saved and forever placed in the KB "I don't know what I'm doing with it m8" collection.
eddyramrod Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 The big white thing up there, is one of those FWD Cadillacs from the 70's/80's. Eldorado, I think; tho' "Seville" keeps bobbing into mind. Great pics, tho' It's a Seville, FWD version, from about 1983-ish. The previous, RWD, version had a much squarer, flatter boot compared to the pseudo-Hooper-Bentley bustle on these. Eldorado was a different model dating back to the early 50s, though in the late 50s it was possible to buy a model called "Eldorado Seville," which was a coupe. "Eldorado Biarritz" was the equivalent convertible. You never saw many of those Tinas with 2 doors even when they were new, so that black 'un is a real find. As for the Capris... you never saw those spanners in my back pocket did you?

I cannot believe that a car so rare, valuable an unique (and which lest not forget was just a couple of years ago 'valued' as a concept / business at £1,000,000) has been scrapped. Incredible."Everything has potential." I'm gonna publicly take issue with that. Everything has potential. Balls. It's totally untrue. Once you get to ground, no potential, Ask an engineer anyway, whilst digging the dirt on Norm, I found more pics This pic reminds me of the end of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. and this one proves that there are cars rustier than yours. This one was a HA viva that spent a quarter century with cows pissing on it Multi-storey parking the scary way Snow joke, it gets fecking cold up here. To be honest, someone could have stolen the van and left a snow sculpture in its place, I wouldn't have noticed for a week.
Rod/b Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Is that a scouring pad screwed onto the carb air intake? I assume this was a joke that got out of hand or something?
pogweasel Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k198/scaryoldcortina/DSCF2666.jpgThis pic reminds me of the end of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Haha! So it does.
