Bird Poo....

I wonder if anyone has ever studied birds' preferences when crapping on our cars? :?

My silver Mazda 6 Estate definitely seems to be a favourite....Literally a daily occurrence, irrespective of where I park it....The other day, more was added while I was lovingly cleaning the previous load off!

Is it the colour I wonder? Or maybe they're just trying to tell me my car's shit! :D

Oooh, Mazda 6. I had an '06 plate 2.0 TS 5dr as a company car and absolutely loved it. One of the few modern cars I'd actually rather like.

That was also silver and I don't especially recall having a problem with bird poo.

Whenever I used to work on the car, birds tried to poo on me. It's a territorial thing I think.

I've noticed the Laguna seems to attract more than its fair share of bird faeces. Perhaps birds in Norfolk just don't like modern cars.

Hi again Baz! Another Mazda eh?

Better than poo, I had a fall out of the sky onto the windscreen of the Laurel the other week when we were driving around.

I've just been looking at a Madza 3 2.0 Sport funny enough, They seem very nice in Electic blue.

My works car park is a right pain for seagull shite, I can guarantee that as soon was i washed my Passat and took it to work that the next morning it would be plastered in the stuff, Some of the seagulls seem to take get pleasure on just sitting on the car and watching you walk towards them and then shitting over it before flying off, Some of them are as big as a small dog.

I was wondering if Silver cars were more attractive to the gulls seeing my others cars never seemed to off got covered so much.

We had some Oyster Catchers at work, I was watching them and they went across the road to the approved used BMW site. One of them took a liking to a convertible with a fabric hood and was standing on the roof for a good while before it decided to take a dump.

i think its about windscreen angle with birds, shitting to stop the dazzle of the sun, the sun moves round so they shite some more

i used to get my cortina shit on on the rear window, and the scimitar gets shat on the front screen

glass sunroofs are a favourite too

Oddly they seem to leave my TVR alone but my Lexus usually gets covered in shit and its not a size thing neither methinks.

My BMW 325i was like some seagull-toilet-mecca when I used to use it as a daily, most days I'd return to the car from work to find huge chunks of shit about its exterior, the worst is when it gets into the grooves around the window seals and you can't quite wash it out.

Either way its literally bad shit and needs washing off ASAP unless you like blotchy paint, on second thoughts most of my fleet have blotchy paint anyway....

Yes, and it's more of an issue with modern stuff as the environmentally-friendly water based paints and lacquers get eaten very, very quickly by the acids in the bird droppings.

I had one of the Datsuns in storage in a barn for a couple of years, where some bastard condor or vulture* pretty much used the roof as its personal toilet. I'm not too bothered as the car will get a respray one day but I'm just wondering how resistant that metal is to epic stools.

* more likely to be an owl seeing as the car was stored in Berkshire.

Hi again Baz! Another Mazda eh?

Hi S.L....Yes, still loving the Mazdas! The 323f is still going strong in the hands of my (soon-to-be-ex) stepson, but now that Mrs.Baz and I are no longer together, I don't get to see or drive it....And it still has a nice set of 15" MX-5 alloys of mine on it!

The 6 has done about a zillion miles, but it has full history, and was very cheap....It drives beautifully, is incredibly good on fuel for a 2-litre petrol, and swallows the 3 children and 2 Trailhounds that I inherited with my new partner with ease....A really fantastic car....For a modern, like.... :D

MX-5 is kept in a rented garage , along with my motorbike, in Acle (where I now reside), and I still maintain will never be sold....I drive it whenever I can, and still absolutely love it! :D

That certainly seems to be the case here R.W....The bonnet of my 6 in particular seems to suffer quite badly with damage caused by the poo: It is usually removed within hours of impact, but there is always resultant paint damage! :(
