BMC/BL rally - Photos

I've gone all "Pro" on my photobucket so have more room. Just uploaded 150 photos from today at Ferry Meadows, below is a selection.

I got up nice and early and drove up to Cambourne to pick up Anthony G. What a hell hole! Reminded me of the Truman Show. What a totally made up place! Its so new lots of the roads aren't even on Google maps.

Since Mr_Bo11ox suggested his dad might be attending we did keep an eye out for a Rover wedge but didn't come across it. Not to worry, we'd just keep an eye out for likely looking characters...

Magnificent "barn find" Allegro.

Not just a Quartic steering wheel, but a broken Quartic steering wheel.

This kid's probably not far off the age I was when we had one of these estates.

Tatty lady drives this nice Herald. Hang on, that didn't come out right.

All Minis should be like this.

This is the definition of an Autoshite car show. Marinas, a sole sausage vending van and entertainment provided by a lass singing karaoke style on the back of a truck. It just doesn't get worse than this!

Excelsior chuckle-worthy pic report.

Do bear in mind though that pattern baldness skips a generation, so all your Fatha_Bo1 suspects are wide of the mark...

What a great set of photos Seth, Very funny as well, I almost pissed myself a FATHA-POG

I so wish i went to this show now this weekend instead as it looks as if it would have been a super day out.

I would have expected an F-plater to be a Mk1 :?:

Nice to have met you and AntonyG today Seth.I thought Peter was a little rude butting in like that but ,hey,he was working.

Did you see the other American police car ? The owner was in full NYPD uniform complete with a Wisbech/Norfolk accent.I was parked right behind him in the row infront. Some of the kinder comments I heard ended with either "prat" or "berk".

The gay car club's mascot and star car was a Princess,or so I was imformed.Paul, the compere is the auctioneer at Bourne car auctions so he might have just been joking with me.

Were you behind me as you took the photo of the Triumph line-up ? That was my exact comment.

Ah yes, knew I forgot someone. Good to meet you Mr Dog!

Great pics Seth. A fine (and funny) reminder of the day.

Michel, there were quite a few Dutch cars over, possibly attracted by the very good and quite focused autojumble.

Posted Image

M-dog, I did see the other guy out and about patrolling. He must have been out attending a serious murder or perhaps a scuffle between MG and Triumph gangs when we got to his row.

Pity you missed it Trigger.

All of these fatha_bol impersonators are just that - low-rent copies!!!

Caught up with Messrs D Wobbler and R Loud, sorry I missed the rest of you

Was an ace day as usual and I managed to sell the dolomite early on in the day which was a result.

Alex - those BL signs were serious coin - one guy had them marked up at £250 for a double sided light box.

I resently missed out on an identical Metro one on Ebay, went for about £40 iirc.

Fuggin wars you'd need to be a serious Metro luva man to cough up 250 waks for a placca sign saying 'METRO'. Lets face it your average Metro enthusiast has a pretty low income and probably eats a lot of Supa Noodles. Maybe they had an inkling the Sultan of Brunei would be there looking to boost his collection of old BL dealer shit - I can just imagine a Koenigsegg CCR blasting away from Ferry Meadows with that sticking out the passenger window.

He wouldn't be blasting very far over those speedbumps

Ha! My Westy (which has Land Rover rivalling ground clearance) wasn't bothered. Unlike the Rover SD1 in front of me... (scrape!)

Au contraire, I achieve an average income and consume a hearty meal every evening. I'm just a bit odd.

Great set of pics there Seth, you've caught the vibe the day really well. I also attended, but failed to somehow notice you around - perhaps I was too distracted by the cars. As usual I got there late but fortunately I bumped into Mash and we had a good chinwag.
