Automotive Cockroach

I’ve just sold my small Fiat daily driver, a bit sad to see this immaculate very low mileage car go, but it’s been replaced by a true automotive cockroach, a 23 year old VW Polo 1.4TDI with a modest 117,000 miles under the crank. Drives lovely and runs mega cheap as these old VAG diesel’s do, Would a current ID electric VW still be capable in 23 years time…

I got the mother in law an 02 1 litre chain cam Yaris. Had it since 2018 now. She does look after it in fairness but they are another car that just refuses to die. Unfortunatly all we have left that just does the job are the littluns these days!

Slightly newer, but same engine. Does everything I want it to do, could probably do with a new clutch, but I can drive it fine as it is.

Having had some polo 1.4tdi’s and currently still owning the latest 240k mile one even I would ask why? That 500 in a colour looked a lovely thing?

The 500 indeed is a lovely little car but was perhaps a bit too nice to use as a daily having only covered 13,000 miles since new, and I was made a very good offer from the lady who has now bought it! I’m happy with my new old Polo though, this is the third PoloTDI I’ve owned and the previous 2 were very decent old donkeys , youngest son has the last one as his daily and my latest one is on lower mileage…

Yes, you still see them being used daily, I saw one today in Bodmin with lowered suspension and nice rims being driven by a young chap.

I've watched the k11s suddenly dissapear about 5 years ago, MK1 Yaris seems to have done the same last year. MK1 shape berlingos seem to be the stand out "old" vehicle still in use en masse around here.
