Looks like a grey steering wheel and early fibreboard dash with gauges as fitted to twin carb 948 saloons "in" that Herald. Tis a Mark one chassis too (Can tell by the rear shock towers) so a potentially desirable car to early Herald lovers.

Time to get door-knocking then, Seth?

Posted

Probably not. In that state and with so much missing don't think its worth anything to anyone. I'll send a message to a man.....

OK, if you can find someone to save some of it I'll happily divulge locationary details.

Some additions for my rather tawdry thread.

This mornings jollies included a trip to the delightful town of St. Evenage. Here's some spotZ:

Posted Image

Girly nazi-mobile trundling down the A1 during the morning grind....

... clearly in not-very-hot pursuit of this slightly shabby Traveller...

Posted Image

Making VERY sedate progress a little further up:

Posted Image

Given the price of juice it is unsurprising, running a 6-banger every day must be depressing. This one merited inclusion on account of typically scabby doors, and early chrome-bumperness. Note: Zero wanky 0MG! RWD TYTE Y0 DRFTWRKX stickers have been applied. Good.

After doing a smidge of work I made an unsuccesful attempt to sight the legendary Tagora of St. Evenage. Couldn't really see how to get near it's lair. Bumhats.

Made up for by spotting Sid here giving his lovely Shuvit some beans. CrapVan had to use all the available go to catch him so I could bring you this exclusive spy-shot:

Lovely.

Maybe this afternoon will bring more grot.

Do you ever have reason to visit Hitchin? (not that one ever needs much excuse to visit the Hit-Chin!)

Posted

Why, I had reason to visit Hitchin but last saturday eve, dear Ritmo. Not for spotting though, and any spots would have been redundant anyway as I was rather the worst for wear, having been imbibing the ale in several of the town's fine hostelries. Other than that, we have a large job on at present, measuring most of Westmill, but it's not one of mine, so missed out on that count.

'85 E28, one owner from new (now well into his 80's), minty fresh!

I remember when the chap got it as I lived near him as a lad, this replaced a P6 V8 IIRC.

Bimble to the petrol station for afternoon fizzy pop supplies turned up this original but slightly shabby E30

Posted Image

Lovely! Untouched by the hand of barry/drift munkeys.

Had a trip to a lovely picture postcard village in Cambs this morning to survey a brook (outcome:soggy feet), chanced upon this rather lovely traditional village garage:

Posted Image

ZOMG! What is the saucy black number?

There's a MK2 Escort stock car hiding too.

Posted Image

CPTC + Frogface + mongdeo (undamaged bumpers!)

They had something in stock for R.Welfare:

Posted Image

And also this unshite bit of kit. Needs slamming / satin black / stickers / banded steels / roofrack / Zzzzzzzzzz FTW.

Posted Image

Later:

Non-scene VW!

Posted Image

Another CPTC for you, with an added bonus of Geoffrey the Silver Fox, pretending to do some work.

Posted Image

And lastly... D.Hirst something just for you.

Posted Image

(Space saver wheel on the back made me LOLz).

That is all for today. L8RZ gang.

Reckon that black thing is a Gordon Keeble. 178,000,000 david bellamy I-spy points for that!

I reckon that's a Gordon Keeble too. Mmm. On Jag XJ6 alloys, for some reason.405 looks shagged, but I reckon it would probably pass an MOT

What's your line of work that allows you to travel around? I think I want something that lets me travel around too, as much as I hate sitting around in traffic!

RegRit,

I am a Land Surveyor by trade, measuring stuff is where it is at.

I spend about 50% of my time 'on site' tooled up with some clever kit to do the measuring, and the other half creating drawings from the data gathered whilst "out".

It's not a bad job, get to bimble around alot, keeps you active and it's nice to be out in the fresh air. Well at this time of year at least. In the winter when it's cold & wet & grey & freezing it can be a bit depressing.

Here's a pic of my environment-destroyer and one of the bits of kit I use (cost approx. 36 times the price of the car)

Is that for all manor of purposes, e.g. for new housing estates, new roads, new retail outlets that the council / government are planning or do you survey anything that Joe Bloggs requires for a private firm? Are you covering all of the northern home counties? (seeing as you're always somewhere in my natural stamping ground) Just being nosey that's all. If you'd rather not say then don't worry.SL am I right in thinking you do something not dissimilar? (or are you just about houses & buildings? Like an architect?)Me, I'm in IT mainly stuck in an office all day, although I have had the odd trip to other locations for work, such as York & Preston. Some of the guys in my office have been in Germany the past week, I was a bit gutted I didn't take the opportunity to go as have not been there, but on hearing back from them it doesn't sound like they've had much free time to explore or anything so they may as well of just been anywhere really! I wouldn't mind being in the same line of work but having to make more site visits so I can see more places countrywide / or even abroad. I'll have to see what's out there.Sorry just realised this in no way relates to shite (although part of my excitement about moving about is being on the lookout for shite)

Pretty much nail on the head there. We carry out work for multinationals & national utilities right through to private individuals via local authorities, engineering consultants, architects practises etc. So it's a pretty varied diet. We've only been trading since December so it's still early days business wise, but there's plenty of work coming in so mustn't grumble. If you like you can laugh at our piss-poor marketing HERESL is more on the design side of things than me, but I know he does the odd bit of surveying too though.

And I do surveys/valuations of houses, so also get to travel about a bit and poke around under peoples's stairs. And get abused, threatened and bitten by dogs, aspects which never feature in the job description

Nice spots! The company site looks very early 1990s to me, but makes me think of http://www.realcar.co.uk/ which can't be bad...

Edit: just saw this for sale there! (Apologies for OT-ness)

I got a new one 'mocked up' months ago, but I got a bit stuck with some of the techy bits and tbh haven't had time enough to sort it out for aaages. :?

At least it's clear and loads quickly, a rarity in these flashy days...

Bad dogs abusing & threatening you! (not to mention biting to rub salt into the wound) I don't know how you put up with that, I'd be forced to call the police or something! :x:shock:

Small world, my aunt & uncle still live in Bedford & their oldest daughter / my oldest cousin lived in Kempston with her other half until not too long ago. But then she married, had a kid & promptly moved upto Doncaster in order to get 'onto the ladder'. Must try & sum up the will to drive up to see them at some point, feel a bit bad that no one has been to see their new home since they went there a couple of years ago but it's not exactly on anyone's doorstep (in the family that is)

LMAO!

I rather like those early E30 Bimmers with the chrome bumpers and wheeltrims. They all seem to be in that light green colour though!

Pog your Touring reminds me of my Dads H-reg one. It was only a 318 though and he had to pay eleventy-thousand pounds for a radio lol! Nice car though, my Dad loved the roadholding :D

Correct, barn surveys seem to be a bit of a speciality at the moment. We do use a bit of kit similar to the above, but I don't get too involved on the technical side of things - clipboard, tape measure and Disto (laser thing) are my limit. The design side of things does get me out and about a little bit too, though obviously not as much as Pog. Current jobs range from very mundane industrial units through car workshops to works on a Grade 1 listed country house where I'm working on a bridge, remodelling one end of the house including a roof garden and 10x7m bathroom plus 2-storey galleried library, and he's also having an underground car park for his Ferraris etc.The work journeys do take me to some interesting places out here in the sticks where I'd not normally go, but it's notable how little there is now to get the camera out for. That garage set-up looks ace, good find there!

and he's also having an underground car park for his Ferraris etc.

See, how many of us on here would love to make use of one of those to store their shite?? But instead it's only the likes of supercar owners that are in that privileged position! How the other half lives eh! :roll:although admittedly if I was filthy rich I would buy at least one or two nice cars, Ferraris, Astons, not too fussed, just something to show I'd made it when I was off on my rounds. Then the rest of my fantasy parking lot would be filled with anything old that I ever looked twice at. Probably at least one example from every manufacturer, mainly for the experience.
