sold a few essex bits to a bloke in Bedale, he asked for my help to get his engine running, so i popped down there this morning,

heres the 3 litre essex in question

...in his trike :o

C3 autobox, home made linkages, home made frame, BMW diff and shafts

the engine was missing a carb, alternator, throttle linkages and kickdown cable, and no vacuum hoses connected,

similar design to the 2 litre pinto one he has outside

MPG: 12 to the gallon

Shame to see that Cavalier convertable like that, one of the few Cavaliers I haven't owned and high on my 'wanted' list.

He's got some bloody good stuff in his yard there, looks like the ideal Autoshite day out to me, thanks for sharing.

I bought a Saab 900 Turbo from Bedale once. There are some scary hills around those parts - especially when you're dragging two tonnes of trailer behind a 1.9-litre diesel Ducato van and you meet a bus coming t'other way. :?

How come that trike gets 12 to the gallon then, is there something wrong with it? (Apart from its general appearance of course). That banger geezer has some good quality chod, i'll take the BMW saloon please.

Those clocks are out of a series 2 mk2 cortina (base/deluxe spec) so it must have been a rather odd '74 mk3 (which would have has a facelift dash and square clocks anyway) ;)

10 points for Mr S :D

i never noticed, just took on board what he said

i asked him about the mpg thing, he couldnt tell me what revs he is running, i suspect 5K plus, from the speeds he was talking about, this might explain the poor MPG, and also the trike has a towbar, and it sits next to his trailor tent, so he could be talking about MPG with the trailor tent attached

Aerodynamics probably aren't too clever...
