Not shite at all but i spotted this yesterday evening whilst out for a drink with my mate in Colchester High Street.

This has to be the tastiest Transit i have seen, I'm guessing the suspension was bagged?. Shame i only had my really crap dodgy camera phone on me though.

Have to agree, i quite like that .

It is not over the top which i like the most.

Banded wheels i guess, they are starting to grow on me.

Thanks for showing us your local Tranny

"Honest officer, the tyres weren't poking out of the rear arches when I left it...dunno what happened"

I hope it's been remapped, and had maybe a hybrid turbo in there. Anything standard in the engine bay, would be a bit underwhelming. Tasty tho'. I wonder if Ford SV would build me a Tourneo version...

Isn't that the front wheel drive Transit ? Adding wide wheels and lowering the suspension must do wonders for an already fragile gearbox.

Not to mention the wheel bearing havoc caused by the massive offset. And I thought my Mondy was hard on wheel bearings...

You can get these Transits in front or rear wheel drive. Apart from seeing the back axle, which is normally clearly visible, the only way I know to tell is that the floor is 4" higher when you open the back doors on a rwd one.

It appears to have a 2.3 Ford Galaxy engine running on LPG, which probably means it's fwd. It belongs to a garage in, here it is on Streetview. The number plate isn't obscured in the first view.

Looks like a bit of a bitza to me. Is a genuine petrol/LPG version, due to the green leaf badge on the rear and the front doors next to the 'TRANSIT' logos. Possibly an ex-council one?

But then it has Royal Mail tightwad-spec rear doors with key locks, which only open with the keys in the barrel. GR8 4 locking keys in the back. The side doors were even more annoying, since you needed to have 3 hands to simultaneously unlock the door and pull the handle (since they're at opposite ends of the door) whilst holding the postbags. Not a Royal Mail one though, as they were all registered LC or LX.

IIRC the RWD Transits all have slightly higher profile tyres and possibly larger steel wheels too - look out for any of the Ex-RAC orange ones. Newcastle council run a couple of RWD petrol/LPG ones I think, so this might be OMG RWD.

A fwd short wheel base Transit is a very rare beast though. Bet it drives much better on those normal wheels ^

NOT GR8 4 DRIFTN then.

I bet you can't carry much weight in it, I really like the banded steelies on it but i couldn't live with them everyday, They would have to be a show thing only.

Given it's sat on the tyre, I recon that it's got air or hydraulic suspension.

I like it!

Yuk. Bring it back n 20 years and I will give you an opinion.....

Jeeeeeesus wept. It really doesn't matter what people do to a vehicle does it? If it's not beige and underpowered, it's gonna get a kickin'.
