This has been up on stands for quite a while. It was like this when the streetview camera went past.

Thanks. Once I realised I only carried my phone to take photos with, I replaced it with a compact camera.

That's a great idea........

....until you find that your car has broken, it's the middle of the night, you're miles from civilization, there's not a phone box to be seen and even if there were, the number for the recovery service is stored on your mobile......

Those are good pics though, and well worth the risk.

ID19 and Maestro van for me please!

I still have a phone! I just don't carry it when I'm walking/cycling.

Nice eclectic little bunch, I`d be delighted to own any of those, Dodge Ram(?) must be a contender for the best pick-up styling ever.

Here are a few more from my phone.

Here's a CRAPTACULAR photo to start off with - I was taking a pic of the Minor at the lights when a Routemaster bus turns up out of nowhere. Tried and failed to get a picture of the bus passing the car :(

A Corolla-ing stone gathers some moss.

Just visiting (although it was free parking)

A slightly more sedate version of the Harlequin Golf.

Clean, unmolested Mini in Brown. Lovely 8)

That ID's just right; faded, but not tatty. I love the way they sit, with the pressure off the spheres, like they're waiting to pounce. And yet, the rise to normal height is so graceful.

Mate of my dad's, in his RAF days, got his dream DS. Had to sell it tho', 'cos his wife kept getting travel-sick in the thing, on all the twisty roads around Kinloss!

ohhhh that ID is lovely, as for mobiles i havent owned one in 5 years now 8)

Depressingly, I know the location of the majority of those cars. You must live bloody close to me Peter.

That 900 is nice, is it near the bottom of Eastway? I think I prefer the flatnoses to the slant noses. There used to be an Opel Monza in a front garden near there. The bloke with the Dodge pick up (Brodheath, near the ice rink \ Budenberg?) has had it for AGES, at least as long as I've lived in Altrincham.

Was the Capri off Carlton Road \ near Alan Reece's?

The Corolla's in Altrincham near the old TV am building. Was the DS on Mersey Road or just off Glebelands Road? (I know that because the massive rim you can just see in the picture belongs to a BMW 6 that lives off Glebelands) There's a much later DS23 that used to live on DeQuincy in Timperley.

All you have to do now is find the Morris Minor near Pacino's, and you've got the set!

Posted

The Capri wasn't where I thought it was.

I found the ID on Google Maps though! Never seen it there and I pass down Mersey Road quite a lot.

That's not where I took the photo, but I have seen it there.

The 900 was just by Walton Park, very close. The Dodge pickup was spotted in Sale, but I used to see it a lot in Ashton upon Mersey. I'm struggling to remember where the Capri was, but it wasn't Carlton Road... off Ashton Lane somewhere.

umm so i can read from the URL that the car is in Sale, Cheshire and you've just told me Mersey Road

^ lol! :lol::lol:

I've always wanted a DS, its one of the few cars on my list that I've not yet got round to.

Using Photobucket for these so let me know if the bandwidth runs out.

Cameraphone can make even the rainiest day look grim.

Posted Image

This caught my eye, they must be getting rarer.

Earmarked this one for cat piss, but the tarp had shifted when I went past today.

Posted Image

Much nicer.

Unmolested '80s Mini City. Lovely :)

Posted Image

As is this tightly parked A40.

Posted

Now, that Mini is definitely on Carlton Road. If you go a bit further up there's usually a VW Caddy and a pair of 8 Series BMs there as well. The A40 I've seen in Altrincham several times near the football ground. It was the funny badge on the grille that gave it away.

It was only last year I spotted it, and it's deteriorated quite a bit since then. Have you seen the really manky Onslow spec gold Acclaim off Cross Street? I really must try and get a shot of that.

Posted

Some good spots there, the hardtop on the Spitfire must be a rare, and thus expensive, item now. There does seem to be a nice amount of run out B11 Sunnys still around too, which is good.

Funny you should mention how the tarp on the Spitty has gone, Im currently waiting for a cover on a 305 to rot off again, roof rack is showing at the moment, so not long to wait.

Posted

Correct on the Mini. I've seen the Caddy, but it wasn't there at the time.

Three more:

An oasis in the desert. I'd been wandering around some vast suburban maze for ages before this appeared.

Posted Image

This was beautiful, and I was lucky enough to hear it in motion a few minutes later. Phone made the sky look terrible, had to fix it in photoshop.

See this about a lot - looks like a one owner from new job to me. Very tidy.

Look in the right place, and there's a postcode too...

The beige Escort has been off the road for a while, but appears to be in reasonable condition.

Here's another couple, not quite so lucky. After I took the photo, I noticed a rotten Herald in front of them.

This is in really nice condition.

There's a lot of these about.

Loving that Accord! I think those early pre-facelift ones look much better than the later ones with the sloped nose...

The red 1600 Capri has appeared in Ashton Village and in the Adelphi car park at Uni.

He must live somewhere in Sale and go to Salford Uni.

Posted

Street behind my house.

There's yet another red Capri on Shaftesbury Ave - why am I not seeing them in any other colour?

This Citroen is currently on eBay with a £16k BIN. Probably not a coincidence that this has appeared in the same area:
