eBay Advice

Hi all. As in the title really, some eBay advice required. I bought a mobile for Mrs Ash, new. It arrived on Tuesday after taking a week to get here. To make a long story short, the phone won't charge properly from the PC, won't sync at all, the car charger doesn't work at all and the mains charger actually EXPLODED last night in our bedroom. Scared shit out of us as it sounded like a pistol shot.

I have contacted the seller, who has made no reply, and I can't get hold of them on the phone. My question is this: what's the accepted time period before I give the seller a big fat negging?

Thanks all.

PLEASE tell me you paid with PayPal? :)

If so then no worries and as a buyer the balls in your court as sellers can't neg you back only leave a positive with a comment.

I'd give them a couple of days then file a case with Paypal/Ebay.

Yeah, it was PayPal. Cheers for the advice. I'm actually more pissed off about that charger exploding than it not working properly, if you get my drift.

open a claim through ebay against the seller for a refund, stating that the seller has refused to reply to you... did he advertise the phone as faulty? if not then you also have a claim as not as advertised...but open case right away and if you paid through paypal ebay will get your money back

oh and did you know when you win your claim its at your descretion whether you send the item back or not

You won't win unlessyou send it back. Thats their fucked up rules.

Even on counterfeits, which should really either be destroyed or sent to trading standards, you have to send them back to the devious seller (who promptly sells on again) or you can whistle for it.

i had faulty phone from ebay... seller was definate i wasnt getting a refund and that he had emptied his account...ebay refunded me and said it would chase him for the money and THEY told me it was up to me whether i wanted to return or keep the phone :)

Wouldn't not sending faulty stuff back make you as dishonest as the seller?

It's not that. You send it back, they say they don't get it back, then you have no phone, no money, no chance, unless you paid paypal via credit card.

i paid for mine by paypal... so i didnt lose out...and as for that making me dishonest not sending it back... he tried to rip me off selling dodgy phone and emptying his account hoping i didnt get refunded

so i call it karma...

Ah right, had (wrongly) assumed it was suggested getting a refund then not sending goods back, sorry.

Even if he has emptied his account ebay/paypal can stop the money clearing.Contact ebay first and they will hold the money until your problem is solved.Sounds like a foreign charger that probably runs on less than our 240 volt system which could be why it blew up.
