Matty Posted February 9 Posted February 9 3 hours ago, Simon_punto said: It runs properly for the first time since I’ve had it. new idle control valve fitted- started from cold on the button, coughed and spluttered a bit for about 10-15 secs but I’m putting that down to the engine management getting used to the new valve. Then it run up to temperature perfectly. Took it out the garage and run it up and down the drive a few times and all good 👍 Even at that age ICVs when new cycle a few times before learning a position. Car looks wonderful again 😍 Marshall2810 1

Simon_punto Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 I’m not on Facebook or anything like that and my friend messaged me this morning a screenshot of a scrappy breaking a tempra. asked him to send me the details, which he did, I called them with no answer. I was in Grangemouth for work today, popped the postcode into the van and fuck me it was 0.3 miles away, so just dropped everything and went. i was greeted with a j reg tempra, which is the rustiest car I’ve ever seen. Been in a council lockup up for 23 years, then the roof collapsed. It donated stereo which is probably ruined, and a length of radio loom, which I’m not sure will work as that’s also been butchered, but what were the chances of a tempra being scrapped less then half a mile away. oh and the rear doors are typical Tipo/ tempra as I was half hoping they would be ok 😂 uk_senator, AnnoyingPentium, Burnside and 1 other 4

Its a bit weird, in that its specced up, including the striped velour trim & sunroof, but it cant be an SX as theres no digi-dash, digi climate control or alloys. Was it a 1.6 SOHC, or a 1.8/2.0TC?
Simon_punto Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 It’s a 1.6s. Manual mirrors but an electric sunroof. the guy is keeping it in the yard for a fortnight before it’s crushed. Tbh there are very little useable parts, the lock up must have been damp because everything metal was rusty and there was no boot floor in it. motorpunk 1

Simon_punto Posted March 1 Author Posted March 1 So- today being the 1st march, I taxed the Tipo. It’s booked in for it’s MOT on Thursday and if I’m honest, I don’t expect it to pass, even though the garage have already had a look at it, but will see. I’ll be getting the exhaust fitted, oil leak fixed etc. i stuck the battery charger on earlier, pumped the tyres up, checked the fluids and tonight, it was dry and actually warming, I had my first proper drive since I’ve bought it and have realised a few points 1. it’s cool as fuck 2. The wheels look cool as fuck, especially at night 3. even though it only has 148bhp, it weighs fuck all and lives to rev, it’s fast as fuck for what it is 4. it handles like fuck with the lowered suspension 5. the electrics are fucked- speedo doing that thing where it jumps past 160 again, which is making the far do more miles in a short space of time, and hazards only work on the left side of the car unless I put the right indicator on 🤦 6. I fucking love it 7. the more miles I drove in it, it began to behave 8. The idle is now sorted thanks to the new icv I fitted- this is the first time I’ve driven it since. It actually runs alright considering it’s an old Fiat. Got sent to Argos at Sainsbury’s for some shite my missus ordered, so thought I’m taking the Tipo. Then it needed Tesco’s finest 99, then i took it into Dundee city centre tonight purely because I could. We have ulez and this is complaint so thought fuck them, I’m taking the car in just for the sake of it. It got a few looks have some pics, as I couldn’t resist I love this car Jenson Velcro, jon.k, Tenmil Socket and 32 others 35

Simon_punto Posted March 1 Author Posted March 1 Oh and also, found out one of the leak’s is power steering fluid. Coming from the reservoir because that has turned oval in shape and the cap is still round so done think it’s sealing properly. Halfords at 10am tomorrow for it opening for some fluid I think. im picking my 9 year old daughter up from her mums in it at 11. She already declared she’s going to be so embarrassed

Noel Tidybeard Posted March 7 Posted March 7 it's amazing the difference a smoll red stripe makes in the bumper! 500tops 1
Simon_punto Posted March 7 Author Posted March 7 7 hours ago, Noel Tidybeard said: it's amazing the difference a smoll red stripe makes in the bumper! Oh yeah 100% and that’s why I have always wanted a red one, as other body colours still have the red bits on the bumper and the steering wheel too
Simon_punto Posted March 14 Author Posted March 14 Now the car is mot’d I have started on the irritating jobs. not exciting I know but I’m just putting it here for a log of jobs carried out. the electric sunroof- it works, but is slow, and rusty. I drove it with the roof open a couple of weeks ago and flakes of rust were blowing in my lap, so I got a wire brush, and black hammerite out to tidy it up. Luckily the sunroof is solid but just looked horrible. also greased up all of the mechanism and hoovered and cleaned all of the shit out of the aperture in the roof. All working well now. the spoiler had red overspray on it I noticed when that popped up so a quick blast of satin black took care of that also. Slowly getting there. Wibble, motorpunk, Scruffy Bodger and 12 others 15
Simon_punto Posted March 15 Author Posted March 15 This afternoon we gave the engine bay a quick wipe over. I’m hoping at some point it’ll be to the same standard as the Punto is 🤞 motorpunk, N Dentressangle, rm36house and 10 others 13
