That’s a proper rare thing, these were very rapid when compared to the shitty escort XR3’s and the like, a friend had one and it used to keep my Astra 16v very honest.

Yeah I was surprised how quick it is.

only driven it for about 30 mins but yeah love it

Absolutely brilliant, haven't seen even a basic one in decades. Looking forward to seeing you bring it up to scratch.

Amazing!

For parts either Big Mick at Euro car care in Derby or Shop4parts

Both are really responsive on emails and have bailed me out for seemingly impossible to find genuine Fiat parts.

He probably knows the car as it’s from derby.

the guy who I bought it from has a 3dr 16v and has broken many over the years so has some parts available

Wow, that's ace. Well jell.

I like the progression from total lunacy (Strada Abarth) to anonymity (Stilo whatever). This is nicely in between and still has a bit of Fiat craziness.

Good luck with the refresh/resto or whatever. I wonder if it might be worth learning Italian so you can go there on a parts collection mission/nice holiday.

I thought my Maestro was hard to get bits for but this is on another level.

Fabulous. Just class. Well done.  I had one back in 1996. Newest car I've ever bought, it was 10 months old I think.  Blue 3 door.  N reg.  Wisdom at the time was the 5 door better as a little more power.  148 v 142 bhp if memory serves.

It actually didn't live up to my hopes, but I'd gone from renault 21 turbo, thema 16v turbo so it never felt that quick.

Still glorious tho.  11 out of 10.

That is very, very nice. Wasn’t even aware that spec existed!
What’s the book performance figures?

I had a go of a mates 1.0i Uno of about the same age years ago and was very surprised how nippy it was.

Glorious. Amazing. Very cool. So much win. Well jealous!

Congratulations!🎉

EDIT: Maybe keep the Punto until you get this fully sorted, or at least you have full confidence in it.

Here’s a photo from the brochure that’s in the glovebox with all the stats 👍

I worked in a small Fiat dealership in the early 90s and the owner built a new white 5dr Sedicivalvole into a Group N rallycar, iirc it was too heavy to compete against Astra GSis in the same class, AFAIK the family still own the car

It has also come with genuine Tipo Abarth accessory mats, and a stoplock.

NICE!

Seriously, nice to see a very rare car here, and even better, even rarer mats. Glad it's going as back to standard as you'd want it. Same with my Vectra, I'm keeping it big standard but keeping a few minor mods that I like, and I'm one of those OEM fan type of guys.

It took me an age to find all of the wee bits for the Punto so at least I don’t have to worry about mats, and more importantly wheels as the standard wheels are like rocking horse shit

Wait. Stop. Don’t sell if you don’t absolutely have to. Can you afford to keep both? Put Punto in storage?

Signed, serial car hoarder that can’t get rid because he loves every single one.

It has to go to

1. Pay for the tipo

2. I’ve done 7000 miles in 10 Years in it and it’s got to the point it’s so clean I don’t want to use it

3. no space. Live in a new build and the garage isn’t big

4. missus hates it

Oh you bastard. That was always my cream of the crop as a kid. Obvs apart from a Strada Abarth 130 TC. Wonderful.

1. Is there no other arrangement to be made? Loan? Save up for a bit?

2. Which is bonus reason to keep it. No other like it.

3. Garage in the 5-10 mile radius for rent? Not all of my garaged cars are parked in front of my flat. I didn’t even get a garage with the bloody place as the building has none.

4. Is there a missus on here that don’t hate at least some of out cars? 😂 If I listened to every time Mrs. Star rolled her eyes on a car I own or bought, I’d probably be driving a white goods Kia something or other.

Just throwing ideas around, don’t hate me 😄

I'd have to agree @Simon_punto. It's not like it's an MGB or something. Literally find another of that Punto. Be a shame to let it go.

Yeah I know, I’ve had lots of thoughts about how I can have both but I’m really precious about my cars and want them with me. Maybe I’m daft but I couldn’t settle with my pride and joy not being at home, instead in a lock up.

unfortunately, the time has come For it to go.

but, I’ve got my Tipo now so that softens the blow a bit

Have a think about it. Maybe there’s a garage within the walking distance you can rent so it’s right next to home.

It’s at my parents just now in their garage but that isn’t really ideal as it has a corrugated roof and drips condensation in the winter. It’ll take ages to sell anyway, it’s still insured etc so I can still take it out on odd days.

there is no rush to sell it, but if someone wants it they can have it
