hold it for 2500 rpm for 20 mins to bed the Cam in and check for leaks etc...

When i put mine in I managed to give myself a hi tensile shock off the dizzy. Whilst pulling my hand away, I dislodged the temporarily bodged on throttle cable for the sidedraught weber and ran the engine at WOT for about ten seconds till I could reach the keys and turn it off.

Very quick way to bed a cam inย ๐Ÿคฃ

No way hahahahaha after all the time and effort that goes into building it too. To risk it all in the vital moments of starting.ย

To be fair everyone has so many different ideas of running in dont they.

though every moped I've ever built I literally just started it up rode It like I stole it but never for a sustained RPM. Up and down the rev ranges.ย

I have the feeling minis are a bit more sensitive than that though hehe

It's reet. It's done 3 thousand mile since then. Goes like stink and doesn't use any fluids!

I managed to bed my cam in at 3500rpm after I accidentally set the rev counter to the wrong cylinder count ๐Ÿ˜…

It didn't seem to do the cam any harm

Running In..... ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

My M8 (with the Celica rally hack) needed his *new motor sweet for an event, just after a full rebuild......

....... cue driving down to Scotch Corner & back in 2nd gear!!!

Worked ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Class!! Just goes to show! These engines are more resilient than made out to be!!

One thing I need to remember to check actually is that it's not in gear before I start it up.ย

I can't imagine 2500rpm for 20mins in reverse will do the gear box much good ๐Ÿ˜‚ย

Hey guys,

A little bit of time has passed since I built this 1132. I decided to fit a chunky straight cut crownwheel and pinion to give me a 3.79FD and a lightened flywheel to give it some pull off the mark.

I also had the 12g295 head skimmed by 80 thou and fit that.ย

This gave me then a real torquey little machine, so I decided to hill climb it.ย

I drove to Scammonden Dam in Huddersfield, about 80 miles from me, threw the car up there all morning then drove home. Had such a fun time... but then had me thinking what next....

That's when I started thinking supercharger and that's the next bit of the project.ย

...be quicker up the hill without all of those heavy lights!

I have watched a lot of hill climb minis, I can hear those straight gears from here.ย

A screaming Shorrock blower would be the icing on the cake!

I've bought a VMAXSCART manifold and was looking for an eaton m45 to fit it from an SLK, however having chatted to guys on here and other forums I'm tempted to try and fit an M24 supercharger.ย

These are found on the TSI VW Polo models, amongst some others and give an output more suited to a small bore engine.ย

Having looked at the manifold, as long as I can get the pulleys all lined up, there appears to be enough meat on the bottom of the M24 to drill and insert helicoils to allow me to bolt the manifold on from below (space permitting of course).ย

Unfortunately I have neither supercharger,ย  so until I have one in hand things are ideas at the minute until I can do some solid measuring.ย

Absolutely, I was also toying with the idea with a Targa Rally so I kept them on.ย

The whole front end was quite badly rusted so I've fitted a lightweight fibreglass one and it seems to go a bit quicker now.ย

Yes I completely agree and those sounds are awesome aren't they, some people don't like the straight cut whine but I love it.ย

Supercharger for low down grunt, then turbo for when it reaches higher rpm's.

Should be easily done with all* the space under a mini bonnet...

I'll get me coat๐Ÿ˜€

Looks great, except from the off-centre spot. Would be wurf x times more if the A was a suffix, methinks?

No way that's actually been done. How does he check his oil ๐Ÿ˜‚ย

When it stops marking its turf from the timing chain cover, you put more oil in. Same as any A seriesย ๐Ÿคฃ

Well, if you can get a Rover V8 in with a transverse gearbox, why not?

Check the oils? Don't bother me with minor issues... ๐Ÿคฃ
