As title, my Saab 900 is for sale. It used to be Dollywobbler's and I bought it off him back in March. It's nice, but it's just not me.

GR8 for being John Luther's rival in love.

Yeah, about Luther: ??????????????? V. Poor ending.

Mmm, Saab, source of many Dolly-compatible bits.

saab engines from 1973 on have nothing in common with a dolly other than some basic block dimensions...

Actually I was reading in a classic mag about some fella swapping his broken dolly motor for a saab 99 one - the 1850 (which is identical). Apparently it 'just dropped in' though he failed to mention how he got round the fact the saab gearbox is bolted underneath forming part of the sump - I assume he managed to fit the dolly sump, who knows....

Bellhousing studs are patterned identically to every Saab engine up to the last of the pre-GM engines, only thing that makes slotting them in there any less than a day's work is the position of the distributor which fouls the heater fan motor in a Dolly engine bay. That one's easily sorted by fitting megajolt or similar. There was a 99-engined (2litre LPT) Dolomite on eBay and Pistonheads last April, don't know where that went.

There is a FWD Dolomite-shaped car that started out as a FWD 1500 and now runs a 1700cc (the seller told us it was an 1850.... )99 engine and box, mounted in a bespoke subframe and with a subtle power bulge, its present owner doesn't do the TDC forum but its creator was my Sister In Law, who started the job and did all of the welding before having to go back over home to start a contract that she'd have been a mug to turn down. (If there's welding being done in a hostile environment, such as half a mile under the sea, then chances are she gets the gig, so fitting "impossible" engine conversions is a breeze when she around. )

/\/\/\ Smashing stuff. So if you fancy a reliable 16v engine for your Dolomite, buy my car, take the engine out, weigh the shell in to get some dosh back. Sorted!
