Whilst idly thumbing thru Utoobs, about ICE combos in Astra.....  I happened upon a chance reference to my CD30 MP3 sound system and it having AUX-in 😯

Seems there was a little port by the cupholder, behind the handbrake 🙄

The FM sound widget is working great but sometimes gets swamped by (I imagine, another in some nearby car...) not really a problem BUT I'm resolved to try a cable AUX connection ✔️

Fleebay provided a bit of junk [+ AUX out] & a 90° fly lead.... Change out of £12!

My AVAS is (blissfully) silent on fire up.....

Are VVT solenoids &/or cleaning $hite out of them something to consider...medium term 🤔

I'm on 68k and the car is now on a 6k oil regime.

Are they 'consumables' or best left? 👀

Appreciate you're happy with the set up @tooSavvy, for future reference some Vauxhalls this age have a cable under the trim by the gearstick that is for an aux in plug. If you have it it needs enabling with tech2 and a jack plug socket fitting. I had one on my similar aged Zafira, I think the forums reckoned they were fitted 2007 onwards.

That 10mm heating pipe is blobb-on for connecting the tranny hoses to cooler 👍

I dip the auto level, from time to time, [no movement] and NO MAYYO 😁

.... however it isn't blood pinkie, over time, and now more brown tintish 😯

Strategy [after the divorce] will be 3x box drain down - getting as much churned/diluted over time.

I was interested in the automatic application, when stopping and opening the door 👀

Hearing many MOT stories of people failing, in Autos, because they use Park and never bother with the H.Brake 😮...

Just to say I'm a 'solid cranker' ON, when parking up AVAS... In the morning when I drop the brake, pulling away from our kerb, I get the clonk of the pad release 😁

My MOT, due in Jan, will be in December but it looks like we will cruise that 😉

..... I have two mastic sealant nozzles [unused] and have blanked the tips... these will be available to stuff into the cut hoses should *suspicions be confirmed.

Also another, larger nozzle for ATF filling down dipstick tube... 😉

Banjo terminals/cooler/radiator fittings cut off & crushed + refitted (in case rad does leak in future) to seal heat exchanger 👍

Astra J style tranny cooler peeking through lower grille.... Ideal 😎

My mechanic is a top bomber and took my instructions to fit exactly as predicted.... Well chuffed, all round!

A coat of bilt hamber will protect it, or anything really, brake lines are copper and last a long time so I’d not worry too much about it tbh.

One.. It's a tiny access hatch [big hands]

Two.. The bulb holder cables [... on this car] aren't long enough to remove the holder out of the access hatch 🤬

Three.. The bulb holder 'poinggs' OUT easy enough >>> the 🤬🤬 won't 'oinkk' back in!

The clip in wings, on the tin holder, locate behind the head of a screw (wedging under half the head) but seems to have a smidge of up-kink to ensure firm [...no laughing] grip 🤬

The first was a FKK ON @ 15 mins ✔️

The next was a 45 minute tirade of all the gods known oaths + almost an ambulance called for my wrist 😮

The 'tin wing' would ABSOLUTELY not go under that screw head.... Lateral thinking proposed loosening screw a smidge (star head) or needle nose pliers to crush the wing in!!!

* This is managed through a small hole in arch liner * 🤬🤬

Pliers it was.... Sorted 😉
