Going well so far.

Checking out on online insurance was a pita.

Also:!Changing the starting date from Saturday to today cost me £26 extra.

But that’s the price of impulse buying.

I think that for a shitter, I did OK.

From my neighbor running me 7 miles down to the station to changing between 4 trains, I never waited more than 5 minutes for trains.

And on a 130 mile return and three hours to get there, food loses out.

If I weren’t alone, the pace would have been much different.

Paid up front last night even though seller said  cash or transfer when I got there.

Got picked up in a Brown Car   That was great  105k miles on it

So not a lot to do except get the keys wrestled out of his 89 year old mothers hands. Elbow to the jaw sorted that.

Some basic directions and off I went.

No clue why the pics uploaded upside-Australian.
Edited them and still loaded wrong.

And this is the original advertisement

My 89 year old mother’s car (she took the pictures!)
She’s had it 17 year, it’s just about to turn 61,000 miles, full service history, still drives really well, feels tight.
Big scratch along the near side where she didn’t quite squeeze through a gap with a skip lorry, inside door handles and dashboard are sticky, it’s a bit scruffy here and there. But well worth £700, car is in Southampton and can be viewed pretty much anytime.

I will clean and assess it all tomorrow.

Not at all

Well, I didn’t test the theory.

I prefer to keep my license clean. But of course there id always a chance of destroying 22 years of that.

On a private road the Astro shows 80 with possibly a bit in reserve. I tend to cruise on motorways at 65-75 if overtaking. I believe in not being a dick on the public road network.
Race tracks and private roads conversely…….. balls to the wall.

The “little” Scenic is a real revelation on the road.

I am so pleased they sold it to me.

Amazing lady.

At 89 she did the online V5 change of ownership.

I had a Megane of that era for nearly 4 years. Pictured here before I inflicted 30k worth of misery on it.

I always found it quite comfortable to drive and felt like it stood out compared to the equivalent Focus/Astra, and despite my profile picture, that was the only time it ever left me stranded - very few of the things that went wrong with it were model-specific or wouldn't have gone wrong on similar cars of that age/mileage (alright maybe not the stupid Temic modules for the electric windows...). I'd happily have another and have half considered a sportier one or a CC. Heck, I'd rock a Scenic as a car booting hack for a bit.

Looks like yours is a reasonable spec given the keyless buttons on the door handles. Mine was a Dynamique (albeit a 1.6 petrol one) and didn't have that, but did have auto lights/wipers (the lights used to throw a hissy fit around dusk/dawn because it didn't know whether to turn them on or not) and other mod cons.

I am hoping this will stay for a while.

The damage the skip truck did hit both doors, sill and arch.

I may just splash out and have it repaired.

As spiritual successor to Prozac the Berlingo I have high expectations.

No stickers this time.

but I found myself looking for modified ones online.

Not much about.

Suspicion id that they were disposable cars.

Definitely no stickers unless it’s Fablon woodgrain or is that woodgrin on a roll.

Think Woodie.

Good cars those, should have plenty of life left in it with that mileage.

I absolutely hope so.

Taxing it today. Going full year at £190

Right.

So just to wrap this up for the uneventful collection thread.

A car from outside the Autoshite stable but firmly inside the realm of AS.

Skip truck damage to two doors, sil and rear quarter worth more than I paid for the car   So I will drive it like that.  It will make my eyeballs hurt every day.

Bunch of random, not so random photos.

So looking out yesterday morning and seeing the double glass sunroofs.

Then moved out back to give a first full valet.

Rain and cold windy weather only let up in the afternoon.
