mercrocker Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Speculation not quite right - there were quite a few sold over here, at least 3 in my home area most of which ended up as driveway dust but they were listed (and sold). Got a brochure for one somewhere and I recall they were known as "434" models. My mates dad test drove one (he was a builder with a penchant for unreasonably shite vans - DAF33 included....) Vince70 Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I like the pics red sparrow... I know the area well as I only live round the corner and the trolley bus is stored next to where I occasionally work in St Leonard's . When you say you've been drinking.. I hope your not one of the white lightning mob that sits in warrior square or by the underground bit next to Argos lol And the Maestro in the pic looks lovely..I guess the owner must of either popped in the Bo peep for a pint or the £10 eat as much Chinese restaurant opposite.. Every time I drive past there I keep looking for the Hastings direct statue from the advert lol...
RedSparrow Posted February 16, 2015 Author Posted February 16, 2015 Hello!Small Czech update, just because these aren't like the million Favorits and Felicias I see everyday. Barkas:Late 80s Volkswagen engined one. If it was a 2 stroke I would've noticed! And this was very interesting. A Simca 1200 I beleive. Interesting because it is on old Czechoslovakian plates for the town. This means it was imported, probably by a Communist Party member or someone with friends in high places. Very possibly the only originally Czech registered one in exisitance. Semi-C, worldofceri, Bucketeer and 5 others 8
mercrocker Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Simca 1300. Nice find - must have been, as you say, an absolute legend when it was new in Czechoslovakia. Great to see it still on the road.
RedSparrow Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 Alright? Not been on for a while. I felt like I didn't have much to contribute anymore.Anyway, I went to Warsaw in August, and in the Technical museum there was a special FSO exhibition! Some interesting one offs and prototypes including a limo made for Breznev. I'll let the pictures do the talking. Enjoy and feel free to ask any questions. mercrocker, The Moog, Owain71 and 10 others 13
mercrocker Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Great stuff....nothing to contribute and you were sat on these babies?! Love Soviet era sports concepts so top marks for those. I bet old Leonid was chuffed with the door shuts on his limo, too... That Topolino - was that a Polish job too, if so how far back does the Fiat/Polski tie up go?
oldcars Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 FSO pickup Very nice. Think FOAD had one/brushed it up.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Wow!!!! Nice work!!! The FSO chaps are going to love that lot.
Alexg Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Nice one, there are some awesome bits there. Thanks for sharing.

vulgalour Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Polski Fiat with Stomil sponsorship is definitely one of my favourite bits of this update.
RedSparrow Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 Apparently the Polski-Fiat thing goes back to the 1930s. There was another old one in the lobby, I'll try and find the photos. The 4x4 estate used Lada Niva parts, evident from the wheels. The limo was made in a rush for the visit - and it shows up close. It's a bit wobbly in places and has big lengths of box section all over the bottom. It sits low cos of all the extra metal grafted onto it. My fave was probably the black secret Police spec one, or the ambulance, which had a wonderfully depressing light green vinyl interior. Btw - where are the FSO lads (benno and Cyanide Steve and others) threads? I can never get the search thing on this site to work.I'd like to know how that rotten green Polonez is coming along. mercrocker 1
Guest benno Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Great work with the polski filth. I have some of those key rings and pendants myself, along with some of the cars. The green Polonez is still in cyanide steves queue at fso hq waiting for attention. RedSparrow 1
Asimo Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 What is the chassis with alloy wheels and a V8 right at the start of the post? Oh and as for searching, I just use google and add the word autoshite to the search terms.
martc Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 The limo was made in a rush for the visit - and it shows up close. It's a bit wobbly in places and has big lengths of box section all over the bottom. It sits low cos of all the extra metal grafted onto it. And thus history was made. When Lech and Solidarity kicked off Brezhnev came back from the dead and advised Gorbachev to leave them alone. The thought of his successor, after his victorious quelling of the reactionary unionists, being driven through Warsaw in a car made along the same lines as a hen party limo from the decadent west was just too much. mercrocker 1
barrett Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 The chassis is the advanced PZInz Lux-Sport from 1934. 3.8l V8, all independent suspension, Cotal box, backbone chassis. Four built, only two completed and the stuff in the pictures is all that survives RedSparrow and Asimo 2
RedSparrow Posted October 18, 2015 Author Posted October 18, 2015 ^^^ Wot Barrett sed.Plus I read on a forum it was an attempt to make a luxury car so they didn't have to import so many, but then then war happened and it was chucked in the factory scrapyard, only to be discovered after the war. There's an argument about whether the engine is a Polish original or copied or licenced from Ford.
