Brighton Spots - 2014 OMG

That 'RICHARDS GARAGE' place is round the corner from my house.

It's really wierd, it's hard to tell if it was an actual garage at some point of if it's just been made up by some wierd old man.

Seems like it does some business as the cars inside seem to change a lot. I agree about a weird old man being involved though.

You know the flats just round the corner overlooking the train tracks? Used to be a load of cars parked up there, rotten S-type, couple of tatty E-types, Lotus Esprit and 2 Talbot Sunbeams. I think you can see some of them on google maps. I always assumed they had something to do with Richards Garage, there's something about shitty mechanics that seems to atract dead Jags (See also - Starleys @ 5 ways)

Oh, I do like the look of Richards Garage. :D

Nice of the other chap to show you his other cars.

Posted

I've only ever seen that Mondeo in there, it's been there ages... It looks like it has no front number plate but it's actually been pointlessly relocated to the bottom bit of the bumper, just under where it should be. MENTAL.

Posted

Oh yeah, there were a red E Type and a beige S Type by those flats for ages, then they went and were replaced with a white and blue Starcraft camper, one of those 6 wheeled Cortina based things, which was on an old E plate ('67) for some reason and has pepperpot wheels from a Capri/XR2.

Cool, I thought they might have gone before you moved down here, they must've been there for longer than I thought then. Wish I'd got some photos, but that was pre digital camera days I think

I was going to wait 'till I had a few more spots before updating this but Brighton has been RUBBISH recently for seeing anything interesting. Also, I don't really leave my house anymore.

OH YEH COME OVER HERE AND LET ME BUFF YOU UP, YEH I'LL MAKE YOU SO SHINEY OH BABY etc

Are the Beetle and Fiesta on Montpelier Place?

According to DVLA the Fiesta's taxed ('til 01.12.11! They must be planning to keep it if they put a year on at a time...) and the VW's on a SORN.

Hey Barrett, interesting spots, have you seen this one in Brighton ? it's "only 3 minutes walk" from the station, wherever that is, and is up for sale at 5K

BOOM!

DSCF1789.jpg

(From my deleted old spotted thread)

They don't mention it's three minutes from the station up one of the most bastarding hills in Btown. Actually it's one of two Fiat campers in that colour, the other is on my street but it's always garaged so I've never got a shot of it. That one is just round the corner from my old house. Maybe I attract them?

perhaps you know this one too then ? !!

I extremely like that SVX quite much. It r greleven for my Buck Rogers fantasies.

An SVX with the grenading, power-sapping autobox binned and a 3 pedal setup from a Legacy installed instead would be grtwelve.

Seeing as there is a lot of love for these at the moment I should post up this surprise spot from the other day. It looked bloody great and really brightened up a dreary day!

I had to run and borrow a camera from my friend's house hence why the photos aren't up to my usual David Bailey-like standards. I left an AS business card on this one, wonder if the owner will check it out?

Posted

Any ideas? It's not often I'm totally stumpted by the identity of a car, especially not one so modern. This was parked almost outside my house the other day, it's based on a Mk3 Fezza by the looks of things...

Time for a proper update. Nothing mindblowing like, but at least I'm trying!

Funny how long it's been since I've seen one of these on the road

I wouldn't normally, but it's rare to see one of these converted from a van rather than a bus. I literally saw about 15 other T2s today

Shit the bed, another one! This photo is particularly poor, even by my standards. This is because there was a smoking hot babe walking just infront of me and I didn't want her to see me taking a picture of a shitty old Ford. I feel slightly ashamed with myself. THIS IS WHO I AM GODDAMNIT!

I thought that wasn't allowed? Doesn't UK registration law prohibit making a car look younger than it really is by application of a younger plate? Isn't this Beetle therefore illegal?

And shouldn't the plate be immediately applied to a Van Den Plas?

Posted

How strange. I take back what I said about it not being scene, if indeed the new scene look is putting a French-style reg plate on your boggo Beetle.

Before 1983 if a car was registered when it wasn't new (imported, rebuilt write-off etc) it got a new plate.
