The problem here is that I could pretty much post every car British Leyland and its successors ever made. I'll try and narrow it down (in no particular order). I own the car I most want already a Mk3 2 door GT Cortina, I've got the van I always wanted a Mk2 Transit and I have the pickup I most want a Cortina p100, so that just leaves me to lust after stuff for the sake of it now  though I have had a lot of love for a Triumph Herald recently and an early 70's Volvo saloon 8)

My Holy Grails:

My Rover 825 Sterling (pre-827)

Posted Image

Would love to find my Dads one; D233KYG, Gold/Gun-Metal Grey with a Flint leather interior.

Not much chance of that as it was last taxed in 1997, but this site has taught me that it nmay still be around lurking in someones friveway/garden/garage.

My mk2 Sterling:

Didnt think much of it until I was borrowed this one. I loved it so much I bought it.

Would also love to find:

Early Mk3 Fiesta, Red, G886KAW (Mums old car)

Wouldnt mind owning eventually:

Rover 827 Sterling Coupe in Gold

Yes, I´m an OJC-holic, but my holy grail is one of the big reanimation-Citroens from Paris:

That's a good call. I love those super-size Citroens. I'm ignoring the dollybird/wobbler comment... :P

I can´t seem to find more infos on these big Citroen-things, I´m not able to write or read french so it´s almost impossible. :?

I read a story in - I think - Motor about one of those big Cits in France that did mega-mile journeys every night to get the Financial Times out. I'll have to see if I can find it :?

Oh yeah, on the subject of 'add ons' saw this the other week.

Yeah, not much written about them in English. I read a magazine article about them some years ago but I can't remember where. May have been Citropolis when you could still get it in English.

EDIT - actually, there's a bit here. http://www.citroenet.org.uk/passenger-c ... cx-01.html

These Tissiers do get a bit daft!

I know were this thing is. Its from a member of the dutch CX club.

Actually can I change my mind? Can I have one of what Pelicans having? Beautiful. Remember reading how they were the most unaerodynamic car of EVAH because of the crease in the bonnet acting as a kind of airbrake. So screw you Bugatti, the R8 was kickin it wid da airbraking flava long before you got your sorry ass into production. Yo!

On accessories, how about one of the Esso tiger tails that fastened around the fuel filler neck on the well-dressed car of the late '60s.

For the very young shiters; no, Eels didn't invent it. :D

Posted

I've mentioned these things before, but for accessories you can't beat for nostalgia those fake rubber fingers that clipped onto your boot & door frames, those anti static travel sickness plastic strips which hung down from your rear bumper, backflash stickers for your rear window like ===XR2===, stickers for 'Fat Willys Surf Shack', those dolls dressed in yellow & red which mooned out of the rear window when you pressed a button....all good fun!

Posted

There was a stall at Newark on Sunday that had loads of the old decal sets.... none of the Flashback rear-window jobs but the generic rolls of "fade" pattern, pinstripes, thick stripes etc etc etc. All in dusty old boxes and probably wouldn't stick to anything now :)

Blimey where do I start.......Cortina XR6

The XR6 is a great choice, I have one in for a rebuild, they are absolute beasts to drive, not like any normal Cortina 8)

Would that be a S'ifrican import? I've never seen one in the UK, and only one over here so far.

Actually, while I'm on the subject......... saw this Crayford Cortina at a classic car show at the weekend

Posted Image

I'm guessing someone shipped the car over from the UK, I don't think the Scorpio engines where available this side of the hemisphere....

Someone prove me wrong, I'd love to get my hands on another Granada :)

Posted

Yup there are a couple of XR6TF's over here, that Crayford was one that was imported along with a few other by a well known Cortina collector who had the damn good sense to imigrate out of this shit hole country....just cant remember his name just now though  ah..old age !!
