Thank you @mk2_craig for posting the rear door ashtray to me, payment sent.

I just need the rear tail light and the jigsaw will be complete.

I left the Sierra idle in the garage for about 10 days. When I went away back in August, I left it for over two weeks and the engine started first time. Not this time. I think the float chamber emptied itself and the engine needed a fair bit of cranking before the Pinto would start. However, once it started, the engine ran lovely.

I am thinking about taking the Sierra on a run down to Basingstoke tomorrow but the weather forecast is a bit iffy.

Right the entire Autoshite community needs to help find this rear light.

One day I hope to see this fine car.  Funny to think, I didn't like Smartie blue at the time but now I think it looks great.

You’re welcome @Peter C .  I can afford to pay off my mortgage now!

I’m asking around locally re rear lamp clusters but so far no leads. Might enquire at the Ford dealer but will be prepared to duck when they throw the parts book at me.

I'll take a look in France - can't guarantee anything. But I will have a look round. Time-line may be long but I'm sure a spare won't go amiss.

Ford fandom and subsequent high prices does not seem to have reached France but I may be out of touch.

This place list lights for hatchback and notchback. Do you have the part number to compare?IMG_4900.png.55e6a52fcd21f70f6ed73dcd92f2e159.png

I scrolled back to page 18 and found my conversation with @egg

The part number of my lens is 6157282, which is the same as the 105 Euro reproduction part in the photo. I assume that cost includes p&p to the UK.

I've just come back from the south of France. It's all Peugeots, Citroens, Renaults and Dacias down there, very few Fords, especially old ones.

P&P is extra although it’s now coming up less for the light!

I can't read German, what's the total now, inc p&p?

£96.03 but still plus shipping which just says will be added when checking out. You can select current at top right to GBP and it changes everything to English

Have you tried Anton at Red Lodge in Suffolk? He may well have a rear light for the Sierra knocking about. Look up AS Car Dismantlers.

I’ve ordered from this place a couple of times, some kind of cooperation between Latvian scrap yards.

They've got nearside rear lights but from their images I can't tell if they are hatchback or Sapphire units and the descriptions don't contain any details. Cost, inc p&p would be around 75 Euros, so not extravagant.

I had a look here in Sweden and found  a set of nice looking lights at a reasonable price, unfortunately for the hatchback.

Tried oval chat? Might be worth an ask as plenty of booted varieties when i last saw the lightening rods or whatever they call them? Was a while back at the defunct Wimbledon mind and was tramadolled up to the eyeballs hence hazy memory.

Still gutted about that as was due to be racing that night though broke my back in a bike off a few weeks prior so thought best give it a miss.

That is awesome, your kids can now enjoy a smoke in the back without making a mess! 🙃

That ashtray was salvaged from an ex-taxi so had travelled about four times as many miles as @Peter C’s car has.

About 128k then.

Or 532k, depending on whether I should add a one to the front of my Sierra's mileage reading.

Ah I think it was somewhere between 190k and 200k, whatever multiple that works out at! I’m sure the instrument cluster is still in the garage somewhere so I could check the exact reading 🤪

Thank you but up close it looks rather fucked. If was a good one, at the asking price it would have sold long ago.

I'm not convinced this isn't just wet/has half-worn writing on it - I reckon this stands a chance of cleaning up. Might be worth a punt at close to that start price...

@Markeh

I have messaged the seller and asked whether the light is damaged.

The light is good but it’s an auction, not BIN. I’ve submitted a reasonable offer to end the auction. What will happen next????

@stuboy

@Markeh

The seller has sent me more photos, the light is for a hatchback, not a Sapphire.

The search continues.

Turned out that the guy selling the lights is based within a 40 minutes drive from me and was happy for me to pop over this morning and collect it.

I paid £40 (not £400) for the light and petrol cost me about a tenner.

Looks good.

Thank you @Soundwave for pointing me in the right direction. These are yours, hope you’re a size 10.

I’ve been looking for the rear door ashtray and this light for about nine months and thanks to you guys I sorted both problems this week.
