Yup, superb as always. Love the F Type Victor, must be the smartest I've ever seen. 8)

Also - am I right in thinking those Field Marshall tractors are single cylinder? A guy near where I used to live had one - it sounded amazing, and blew perfect smoke rings!

i think your right the rallye was lacking a bit, I had to have a pint of some god-awfull ale to help be get through it.

No point putting my pics up as most of them will be the same how every I will add this small selection:

these lads took it in turns to shot at a traction engine with different weapons:

100_0281.jpg

then big things took it in turn to drive round a field:

  • 2 weeks later...

Here we go again!, MOR FOTOS this time from the buysellcortina.co.uk forum's charity day car show at Battlesbridge in Essex.

The deal was that you can turn up in any car you like, pay £5 (for charity mate) and display it, I was expecting more cars but I didn't mind as what was there was all decent stuff.

STUNNING! Why are these events always held down south? 333 HLD is a stunning car! DESERVEDLY car of the show, I would say. Read about it elsewhere, and seem to recall it's a replica of a coupe proposal by Ford that never went into production, and is actually a Saxo underneath? Find it hard to believe, but who knows? Mk 1 Lotus Cortina police car looks stunning too - did they ever really use them? Minus the green stripe, I notice. 824 FPD looks like a '29 Ford Model A to me - if it's really based on a '58 Anglia, it's a pretty amazing piece of work!

I agree with you on black plates on newer cars. That R reg Granada looks so wrong with them on. Also, people who buy black plates but with incorrect modern font. What's that all about.

Correct age plates are not difficult to buy if you can be bothered.

That Capri sounded the nuts as it pulled up, Had a real sexy burble to it, I wasn't too keen on the bodykit though, a bit OTT for me.

BTW, I've been meaning to ask for a while, Are my photos too big or too many?, I notice i don't get a awful lot of comments and i worry that the amount and size of the photos might slow people's computers down too much.

I'm forever in awe at your photo threads, Trig, I say leave as is. Lack of comments seems to be a common theme across all forums. I'm lucky if my blog ever gets a comment, but I know people don't hate it.

What engine was in the Mk1 Granny on the Azev "A"'s? Doesn't look stock.

Agreed. The pics can take a while to load, but it's worth the wait! As for lack of comments, it's one of the reasons I post very few pics anymore!

Are my photos too big or too many?

If you are worried you could try defaulting to a smaller size as the links under them enable folk to see a larger version if they want.

I'd say that the whole idea of these threads are to show people the cars you have seen, so don't go too small. Perhaps leave a handful at the current size.

I tend to post one of two photos with a link directing people to more, but some don't like having to go elsewhere for the pics, so you can't win. :)

Just looked back at the Mini with the ELF reg. : should really be on a Riley; the one with a boot! :D

I got chatting to the owner of this, he's had it since new and got it special ordered in the Canary yellow with the green stripe, It was the only Sierra ever painted this colour, he said it was because he was a racing driver for Lotus in the 60's racing Lotus Cortina Mk1's with Jim Clark and the other one, he always raced the yellow car with the green stripe hence the colour scheme on this, I don't know how true this is but he's covered 380000 miles in the car with no problems and it's his daily driver still!.

1979 MGB GT 2.0 by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr

One of the only MGB's I've ever seen that i like, the owner was a really nice, down to earth guy as well you loved upseting MG owners, it was running a tuned 2.0 engine and sounded really grunty.

Bloody hell, that Sierra is wonderful and the Chevette is rather lustworthy too.

Trig, you're spoiling us with these pictures and long may it continue.

Stonham Barns? Damnit, my local whats-on? calender is really letting me down.

I'm sure I've seen the red 'tina 80 knocking about on the West End Road a few times. Smashing stuff, Trig'.

Thanks guys, Next week Earl is Helmingham Hall which is a really good show, you have a concurs drive were exhibitors can thrash their pride and joy down a straight road and back, it makes for good photos, I'll be there in the Kadett.

Splendid work Trigsbury!!!

That ital looks the FREAKIN NUTZ on those steelys, I got one with exactly that 'decor' out of gosforth metals in about 1999, it only had 20k on and was in really good nick. One day the gearbox bust near uni so I got the Uni weightlifting team to tip it on its side in the uni car park while I swapped the gearbox. Eventually i sold it to a mate who scrapped it like a MASSIVE FANNY.

Love all that ridiculous Elvis bollox on that Zodiac!!!! The combination of old motors and escaped mental patients is the reason I love going to these local shows.

Arf! Instead of installing a 'continental kit' the Elvis monger seems to have just sliced the centre out of the bumper and bolted the wheel though the rear panel.

JOB WELL DONE

That's one of the reasons I enjoy these shows as well, I find i have a lot of "characters" come up to me now for a chat, I must have a certain appeal to me that encourages them over, Or it could just be the wife. :? .

I was chatting to the owner of the Zodiac, He said he found it 7 years ago whilst servicing a old ladies boiler, I did try hard not to laugh.

Wonder what he's done about the petrol filler then? It's behind the number plate usually on these, which always seemed to me to be a perfectly logical place for it, but then we did have a Corsair and a Mk3 Zephyr between my 5th and 8th birthdays; two cars with the same layout.
