Yep, we are on a fully laden single decker from which very little of the countryside can be seen.

Highlights so far include the man wearing a dust mask  and the older lady loudly dropping the f-bomb because it isn't a double decker.

A quick dive into the golden arches for a free coffee (poor effort again though sadly)

Then across the road to here:

And a brief pause to allow so work to head @trigger's way.

We were collected by @mercedade in a rather lovely Saab and taken to see this frumpy frog.

It was as described in detail and performed faultlessly on the drive home over the Woodhead pass.  I hope the young lad we acquired it for will be happy with it!

I know they don't have the sparkliest rep but I quite like a 207. You don't have to look at it while you're inside it, and they drive nicely.

We've had a little look around it together - something rather weird with the back brakes; it looks like someone has cut the top of the threaded adjuster off for the cables.

It's also had an intermittent non crank/ non start.  I've put another fuse in for the starter circuit and it's been ok thus far.  I've kept hold of it as, like a tit, I had to go digging about it's cambelt history and now know for certain it hasn't had one.  I offered to do it for the lad gratis.

I can't even get my head around that - I specifically outsourced rear brakes because everything looked shit, but because everything (finally) worked, I'd never considered there was a bodge underway. That's infuriating.

And the non-crank is a new one - do you have Lexia/Peugeot Planet? Nothing else will talk to it, in my limited experience. Keep me posted, I hope the new fuse has sorted it out.

Yeah it is really quite odd, like they have pulled all the adjustment up at the lever rather than the shoe,  I've dressed the drums down and will get the adjustment sorted that end, then will get a top cable from the scrappy - it's only about 3 inches long and is all inside the car.

I haven't driven it a lot since changing the fuse but will tackle the cambelt tomorrow morning/ Friday weather permitting.  You can hear the relay inside click but nothing further, hopefully this has addressed it, inknow how finicky modern electrics can be!

Also @mercedade, please don't think I am grousing in your direction about any of this.  A lot of the reason I post these things is to warn folk about the quality of workmanship out there.  It doesn't necessarily mean your garage did it - it may have been a preexisting bit of bodgicles, but it will get dealt with.

Absolutely no issue at all, I'm all for reading more about it - and offering any answers that I may know! I'm just glad it's up and running, in use.

Got the cambelt and water pump changed yesterday morning, no pictures as I needed to get it done tonget to work on the late shift.  The Audinhaving shat its brakes the day before!

I'm hoping to head out to the scrappy later and get a new handbrake cable adjuster to sort the rear brakes correctly then I can hand it off to it's owner.

I think I sorted the door locks out from locking when the doors are slammed - time will tell on that one.

Spent the day sorting this one out ready to head on to its new owner.  I was prepared to give the garage that sorted the rear brakes the benefits the doubt alover the cut off adjuster but...

Next to the brown multiplug is the top piece of the adjuster, the cut is fresh and no corrosion present, they've used the cable to do all of the adjustment on the shoes.   What a bundle of fuckwits.  I stripped the back brakes down, ground off the lips on the drums and adjusted the shoes properly using the adjuster in the drum, then removed the handbrake lever to replace the cut down adjuster.

I also snagged the battery covers from the yard,as they hide the wiring into the ecu.  Whilst looking at the battery box closer, I noted that most of the wiring looms in this area were in the wrong place,  I set about re-routing them when wait, what's this?

Is that a bit of a neb there?

Too fucking right it is, i wonder if that is what caused the intermittent non start?

A new bit of wiring let in and heat shrink solder connections used to join.  Fingers crossed!

Absolutely brilliant work @ruffgeezer, makes such a huge difference when someone knows their way around the specific engine bay.

Hnnnnnggg that I've got to cross another garage off my list, but really hoping the ECU wiring wasn't me. I had the plugs in and out a dozen times or so, and although I'm pretty sure I always routed them back the way I found them, there's never a guarantee. Great spot on the mangled wiring
