Asimo Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Interior lights: normally* it is the earth that is switched by the wee button thingy in the door jam so +12v at the light fitting all ofthe time. ** Landrover may be weird and different because OLLI.
sutty2006 Posted September 22, 2023 Author Posted September 22, 2023 Yes, but I’m sure there should be a wire attached to this, as I can’t find one. There is no earth otherwise.

Guy seems to be saying that the earth lead goes walkies? Gets my vote too. Just make up another earth wire if you can't be arsed fishing for it. That light is the same as the Disco 1 and is simple. The P38 style ones (pic further down that thread) have a little circuit board on the back which gets fried by the leaky sunroof.

Guy seems to be saying that the earth lead goes walkies? That one has a satnav unit in place, which I’ve never seen before. Different plug. But I’m still coming to the conclusion that the earth lead is missing.
sutty2006 Posted September 23, 2023 Author Posted September 23, 2023 A few jobs to do today. first. Just needs regas m9 Dyslexic Viking, RayMK and privatewire 3
sutty2006 Posted September 23, 2023 Author Posted September 23, 2023 While the A/Cs are doing A/C things, I’m removing the motors from the sunroofs and swapping them over Dyslexic Viking, RayMK, privatewire and 2 others 5
sutty2006 Posted September 23, 2023 Author Posted September 23, 2023 Front sunroof now opens. Yay. Need a motor now. The drain is hard to get to so dropped the lining a bit. Snapped the end off, bugger. measured the piece that broke off and drilled the hole out. this is glue. Stonnnnnnnnnnng stuff. temp fix Tickman, rainagain, RayMK and 5 others 8
sutty2006 Posted September 23, 2023 Author Posted September 23, 2023 So far so good. tested the sunroof drain. works. Awesome. Headlining is now goosed though. and then there’s this. Why is this loose? Ahhh, no screw. Fucking idiots. A/C now A/Cs icy cold air! Lovely. Coprolalia, Tickman, RayMK and 9 others 12
Carl1981 Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 fair play for fixing the sunroofs, PITA in our experience. When my FIL had his D2, the sunroofs got gorilla taped from outside and the motors disconnected, it was always soaked inside until we bodged it! ‘repair’ worked and lasted well though! 🤣 also it was obvious it leaked when we sold it, the buyer asked, does it leak, so we showed them our ‘fix’. He seemed happy enough with that.
sutty2006 Posted September 23, 2023 Author Posted September 23, 2023 The D1 has gaffa tape on the roof, sealing the sunroofs up. They’ve done alright for 8 years but the front tape needs replacing as it’s leaking again. just hope it stays dry inside now. Hate nothing more than a wet soggy moist interior Tickman 1

sutty2006 Posted September 23, 2023 Author Posted September 23, 2023 I also rearranged the wipers, as they had been fitted wonky. One up, one down. Now looking much straighter. not a bad looking motor really. Going to try and wash it tomorrow. rainagain, Rust Collector, Dyslexic Viking and 15 others 18
sutty2006 Posted September 24, 2023 Author Posted September 24, 2023 Today I took the walrus up to my unit to offload the boxes of parts and spare car ramps that came with it. I now have 4 sets of car ramps of different sizes. 🤣 I found these in the boot, neatly tucked into a proper carry case winner. Set of nice roof bars will come in handy! and the contents of the box? lots of bulbs, trim clips, switches, spare belt, belt tools, 2x rear number plates for trailers, more bulbs…. took it to my dads and washed it. Seams to be covered in a “detailing wax” which is disgusting then took it home and took the headlight guards off to clean those up yuk that’s better Nearside clean, offside not clean. happy with that then the right yup happy now. djim, rm36house, Dyslexic Viking and 11 others 14

sutty2006 Posted September 25, 2023 Author Posted September 25, 2023 Went to see a mate. we tightened the uj up that goes into the steering box. It needs a new one really but meh, it’s slightly better than it was he’s doing front disks n pads on his. They’re very rusty! Dyslexic Viking 1
sutty2006 Posted September 28, 2023 Author Posted September 28, 2023 Suttys (ex)fleet at work. The D3 was replaced by the Allroad, which is (funnily enough) parked directly behind me) rm36house, JMotor, Dyslexic Viking and 1 other 4
Westbay Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Nice to see the sunroofs fixed instead of sealing with gulp.
sutty2006 Posted September 28, 2023 Author Posted September 28, 2023 Have access to caravan this weekend. So need to exchange tow ball for correct height alko version. glad I did. Original tow ball held on with 2.7 stainless steel bolts. Yikes. Can tell it’s never towed owt heavy some nice new 8.8s going on. beko1987, Saabnut, Dyslexic Viking and 1 other 4
sutty2006 Posted September 29, 2023 Author Posted September 29, 2023 Put my big girls pants on and borrowed the in-laws caravan for our anniversary (which is today). it’s only a baby van. I don’t normally suffer from anxiety but heading up the m6-m62 to York made breathing difficult. But we made it! she definitely needs some torque releasing from low down. But alas it has done the job without fail. Oxygen entering lungs betterer now. stuboy, Cookiesouwest, Rust Collector and 9 others 12

sutty2006 Posted October 1, 2023 Author Posted October 1, 2023 On returning home, I have completed 328 miles and refilled the tank. Feck, another £100 of diesel gone through. 61 litres of derv (13.5 gallons) decided by 328 miles equals 24mpg. the D3 used to average 19 with the twin axle caravan. So I’m classing that as a win. (A painful win at that!) Jenson Velcro, Tickman and andy18s 3
sutty2006 Posted October 2, 2023 Author Posted October 2, 2023 The interior light stopped working, again. This time, the contacts on the bulb weren’t contactin very well. Some sand paper sorted that out. Far right dash bulb was dim. the binicle came off easy, ahh that’ll be why. Someone’s raunched at it and snapped the screw holes out. but one 5w capless bulb later and we have equal amount of light. Dyslexic Viking, mk2_craig, Matty and 2 others 5

It was Telford the other week. They’re working their way round. Fortunately the D2 isn’t a desirable model and can’t be easily nicked by reprogramming the keyless entry so we are safe for now. it cost me about 10 quid to take the Audi off and add this. So I’m happy for now. Rust Collector 1
