Praps twas a might 'impatient', on the choice.... A recce of the local Multi + tape measure mebbies a better plan ๐Ÿค”

However..... ๐Ÿ™€ยฃยฃยฃ O.M.G. Ebay bars..???

These were ยฃ42 delivered... Comparative steal ๐Ÿ˜Ž

.... Nice, slow 'winter project' ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

In order to fully assess the way these are constructed.... I have 'double nutted' the four retaining studs out.

At the end of the day, I'm likely going to zipp off the protruding web (alloy) but didn't want to risk complications, with steel embedded in it!!

Once the web is 'flattened off' I can lay this one on the roof and mark lengths/tube cut ๐Ÿ˜ฏ....

Cant you get the bar out of the foot and shorten that rather than chop the foot down? Or is it all one casting?

Yes..... Effectively, the bars are three pieces.

My plan (cutting down the tail end foot) is a 'see how that looks' sort of idea. NO chopping yet!!

I am eyeing a biscuit tin lid..... But Why?

IMG_20231030_160033.jpg

Anyone have a guess why that might be useful to meย ๐Ÿค”

I shall drop a BIGย clue....

Well.... Good to see everyone's curiosity burning away here ๐Ÿ™„..

I will take the lid and cut it off, into a square piece, then chop out a 'letterbox' = equal to the high section of ally casting, sticking up from the foot.

I will tape the tin plate close to the profile of the foot with gorilla tape.... I will then hacksaw the alloy [sticking through] into a sequence of slices/cut sequentially across horizontally... the tinplate will *guarantee I don't cut into the foot profile & ruining the finish ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘

A smidge of Dremel action will reduce any bobbles to a 100% flat plain face, and I may use the existing tapped holes for the securing Csk screws, holding the mounting flat face plate....

We Will See ..... ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™‰๐Ÿ™Š

My curiosity was actually going on both cylinders! , but I genuinely couldnโ€™t figure out what you were going to use the lid for. Looking forward to seeing the end result though!

Quick bit of 'man maths' ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Mr Getz got 04/07 62,800m >> today 03/11 72,200....

AVG 82miles per day ๐Ÿš™๐Ÿ’จ

Hmm... As reported earlier, well actually in my Swift thread, 'foggy plastic lenses' are making the (now the clocks have changed) lights on MrGetz... literally $hite ๐Ÿ˜ฎ.

I'm planning a home-brewed polish mix and we will *see how it works ๐Ÿ‘+ new 'nightbreakers' (never got round to fitting in SuzyQ).

I wouldn't use the lamp output for 'lamping' rabbits.... but I'd happily plough into off-road forest to go lamping, with these new candles ๐Ÿ‘.

One in / One out.....

I bought a GTline bootbadge, looks quite nice...

I'm driving along, into Newcastle, and smell very hot brakes - then it goes away - then it comes back ๐Ÿ˜ฏ >>> shopping @Tesco and I feel both front wheels = ๐Ÿ”ฅN/s.

Shit, it's a sticky caliper (likely pin, rubber boot was split when I did pads so I sloshed plenty Coppaslip into it ๐Ÿคฆ)

Rain all week so I'll see if my SpannaMan is free for the job....

Isnโ€™t GT line a KIA trim level? The badge looks far too new for the car as well, just doesnโ€™t sit right with the others.ย

Undoubtedly the case.....

I feel consoled not to have 'hit up the Bay' for a Clio '16V', though ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Iโ€™ve always put new copper washers on the banjo fittings just as good measure. No point risking it for a copper washer that costs pennies.ย

All sorted.... Nothing seized, all rubber nice and flexi/slapped on rubber grease....

Brake fluid emerging from severed pipe/bleed drilling, so piston is free when I press it ๐Ÿ‘. Bleed nipple out/back in....

Will drop it off @oily spanner and see if he has a slot free ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ.

Not getting much joy with the garage (shut/hols).

Think I'll D.I.Y. with a 'slit-in-rubber hose' brake bleeder (I have some silicone vac pipe lying around, just the job!).

Shouldn't take more than a *half hour..... ๐Ÿ™„
