If it's something more complex, share the issue or give any update of any kind to help people understand what is going on - don't just have radio silence while a site that a lot of people love goes dark 2 - 4 times a day, every day. It's quite disheartening. There are people here who can help, and those who can't still deserve some level of communication.

Update thread now created, and pinned so everyone can see.  I have been updating best I can with the info I have had.

If it's the hosting provider that's causing the delays/not giving support, start the process of moving away from them. Backup all current data, get a migration plan in place, find a new provider and plan some downtime.  If you want to change platforms - build the new platform the way you want it in a new environment and then setup a plan to migrate to it.

As I've been updated today, this is exactly it, and those plans are now in process.

Brilliant - thank you. I appreciate it's not your fault on the communication front. You just happen to be the messenger in this scenario.

I figured that it was probably a hosting / support provider shirking their responsibility - tale as old as time. Look forward to progress and best of luck!

It's 50/50 a hosting provider problem and a me problem. I haven't had much time to dig into it, and the problem that presented is specific to the hosting providers customisations to the Linux system. So without their assistance it's impossible for me to fix.

The solution is to move it to a new virtual machine, but that's non-trivial it's not something I can do in stages, it's a thing that needs me to block out a couple of hours and take the site down.

I do apologise for the continuing disruption.

I totally agree with the first 2 paragraphs. However,  it is far too technical for my head so maybe my support is worthless.

There is no need to apologise.
