Spotted this today, it has an undead look about it.

 

I'm gutted that I was too slow with my camera last week when a Rover P5 3.5 litre in similar "near showroom" condition blasted past us on a roundabout.

There was one locally with its first owner until he died about 5 years ago. I've seen it at a show since- WFS796.

When I used to live on a shitty council estate just outside Stalybridge about 30 years ago, there was a geezer used to come round flogging eggs out the back of one of these old things. His had a weird numberplate on it, like a T-reg (which would have been about 2 years old at the time).

That is one EPIC spot.I was intrigued by the amount of blue haze round the back...but it IS a stock Standard 2088cc petrol four-banger under the bonnet. Thanks for all the replies with the extra info, I've only recently decided to have the camera ready and it has paid off.The blue haze is probably being amplified by the mode that I had the camera in at the time, I don't remember seeing abnormal levels of smoke.I bet my brain would've remembered smoke even if there wasn't any, such is the mental imagery evoked by that car.The driver looked perhaps late 50s or early 60s but I didn't get a good look, the car was a bit of a distraction.

Aled , seen the Imp a few times , last year he fitted a better boot lid so its improving , still a complete wreck though , as for the Vanguard , thats pure class

did see it at national last year, he keeps old newspapers in the engine bay, and i was told that he takes the passenger seat out and sleeps in the car overnight.

The decrepit yet road legal look is possibly the epitome of shite - that imp is superb too.This is the look I want for a DS, early round lights type with a chalky finish to the paint job and marked, pitted chrome (well in truth it's stainless steel and alu on a DS but it cam be made to look like pitted chrome ), no hubcaps and of course some 'under control visible rust' like the Imp. 100% perfecto mechanicals of course

There's one in Brockley (London) like that, viewable on Streetview although saw it in the metal 4 or so years ago. Looked ace. Well, it might not have been an aerly round light one..
