tom13 Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 I would love to drive that as it is. There is a style in Europe somewhere where they drive battered old American cars. I can't remember the name at the moment. I think they look good though. Rustybullethole and JMotor 2
sierraman Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Fiscally speaking someone might as well weld it up out of old washing machine carcasses and filler and then run it as is. Probably hand paint it. bunglebus and Rustybullethole 2

It’s called Raggare and is practiced in Norway and Sweden. It’s a whole lifestyle with a car part to it. The cars are all really well done under the skin but look as terrible as possible. I follow that chap on Instagram, love all their cars, they must look ace when they are all cruising down the road together.
eddyramrod Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 @Angrydicky the 59 is the halo model, much like a genuine Escort Mexico mk1. The 58, as shown in your original post, is less well-loved but it's only a step or two down; think mk2 Escort Ghia with two doors and a 1.6 Kent. Several people have already said that this car is quite possibly strong and reliable behind the damage, and I would agree. There's a good chassis under these things, and a big, tough, simply-engineered drivetrain. Yeah it looks rough, but it's in London, so if nothing else, it could be rented out as a TV/movie prop for all kinds of shows, even as-is. The pink is a bit noticeable, but it surely can't be beyond the wit of a good painter to falsify that level of patina in, say, blue or grey. A couple of appearances in pink should offset quite a bit of the cost of doing that! Anyway, that's all academic. I would happily drive it as shown but that's also academic. All we can really do is speculate. And hope it can/will be saved. Angrydicky, Matty, JMotor and 2 others 5
SiC Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 A Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, which is still a big car, is 5.27m long. This (according to Wikipedia) is 5.61m long. My double width garage is a reasonable length compared to many but still only 5.4m long in comparison. No wonder most of these have to live outside here in the UK. Even parking it in a standard pay and display car park would be tricky. I don't think even my storage bays are long enough. The biggest thing I've seen at storage is the ungainly big Hummer H2 in a few bays down from mine and is poking out a fair bit in the front. That's 5.17m for comparison!
Rustybullethole Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 I wonder how much you’d need to offer for this. I am quite drawn to it.
Ian_Fearn Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 Another interesting old Caddy story here. danthecapriman 1
