Couldn't see the day I'd ever vote Tory and Cameron's views on the B.A strikers aren't endearing his party to me. Brown is a wanker, not a clue about the SDLIBDEMZ and would sooner nail my bollocks to the kitchen floor than vote for the BNP.Fucky politics with a big fucky thing.

Lack of refining capability world wide. Newly "discovered" oil is of not such good quality, needing more and more refinery processes to turn it into good old 95 RON.

Down to modern refineries having crackers which are not able to cope so well with crude. Older crackers can refine better.
This isn't correct, at least not where I work! A lot of 'new crude' has a high acid content, but the ability to deal with it has been about for the last 15 years at least! it's only higher chrome content pipework, towers and pumps! The refining margins on gasoline are naff all, its other products that refineries make that makes the money, unleaded is pretty much all exported!

more of you lot should stand up to authority

Erm,

Fiscal depute Elaine Lynch said: "The accused got to his feet and was standing over the police officer exposing his penis and thrusting it in her face, forcing her to take evasive action to avoid getting struck."

WTF? How short was the copper?
*snigger*
just the right height by the sound of it.....what! - who said that!?!? :P:shock:

It is where I work!!!Agree about the other products, surprised me just how much can be made and find all these reaction columns fascinating.

Sorry but if Brown comes back as PM for another five years I'm leaving this country, Green Party - I know not a credible vote, but they were against the scrappage scheme, and belive in running cars for a long as possible.

… the Old Days

I remember the days when cars were already rusting before they left the showroom, when cars ended up in scrapyards through corrosion, not the failure of an electronic part that cost £3 to make but £500 to buy from the dealer.

Some Mercs were doing that scarily recently, as do Ka's.

I remember the days when a VW Golf weighed 880kg and the GTi model was a sporty car that also did 45mpg.

Drove a new Skoda Superb diesel 120 miles yesterday, it *averaged* 62 mpg. I was astonished. Bloody nice car as well.

I remember the days when cars came in colours other than silver or black.

Mine's blue.

I remember the days when cars looked different and you could tell a BMW from a Ford.

Weird innit, I think the new Fords look superb, and the new BMWs look bloody awful. Keep seeing the 5 series GT things. Don't like.

I remember the days when petrol was under a pound a gallon.

When I passed my test it was about £2.60 I think. Remember my dad going mental at the thought of £2 a gallon.

I remember the days when people could work on their car and repair it themselves.

I still do :)

I remember the days when you didn’t need a computer degree to determine that a part was faulty.

The new diagnostic stuff is a piece of piss to use. Try it, you'd be amazed. I love it to bits.

I remember the days of bodges and fixes.

You should see some limousines.....

I remember the days when scrapyards were full of interesting cars and you could go take the bits off yourself.

I bought a headlamp for the 3 series a couple of weeks ago, I took the replacement off the car myself in the scrappy. There were loads of good things in there. I spotted a Jag 420G.

I remember the days before speed bumps, speed cameras and speed cushions.

So do I, it's one of the reasons I'd like to move to Czech.

I remember the days when air conditioning was a luxury and not deemed to be a necessity.

Aircon is the best thing to happen to cars in the last 50 years. I seriously think twice about buying anything without it.

I remember the days when cars had wind up windows.

I drove a '58 plate Skoda Octavia today. It had them, but only in the back. ;)

I remember the days when we had a British-owned car manufacturing industry.

I'm so glad BL died...

I remember the days when people thought beige was a stylish colour for cars.

Hirst lives! (and beige Toyota Avensis' are everywhere..)

I remember the days when it was rare to see a two-car family.

I've always lived in a two car family.

I remember the days when you could cram two adults and four kids in a mini and it was considered normal.

I hate MPVs (other than the Ford Galaxy and E-spaz)

I remember the Green Cross Code Man

Lord Vader.... your Tie Fighter is ready.

I remember when aircon was a luxury too. Some time in the early 1980s they stopped making cars with adequate ventilation and around the same time the windows started getting bigger and more horizontal.I remember when PAS was a luxury instead of a necessity.I remember when headlights lit the road ahead instead of scattering light everywhere, dazzling everybody and creating huge shadows.

Smurf sticker (they smelled lurverly!) & figures being giver away at "National" petrol stations, as well as the blue with white & red pinstiped Shell sunstrips at Shell stations... cant remember what was writen in the middle though...

For the record petrol was about £1.60 a gallon when I passed my test & stations selling unleaded were few & far between (much like LPG now).

I remember when catalytic converters were optional equipment & people actually paid for them, as well as the paranoia that they were so delicate & would cost fifty billion squid to replace....

I remember the horror of Brian Adams being at number 1 with Everything I Do for 328 months.

I remember Top Gear being on Thursday nights featuring William Woolard, Chris Goffey & Tony `midget` Mason, Shaw Tailor telling us to `keep em peeled`, the LWT chaneover on a Friday night next to Hawai 5-0 or The Gentle Touch, & I was there when Night Network first started going through the night.

I had my first ever snog to that song when it was in the charts, After copping of the girl (Who In hindsight was a right old minger) i promptly stepped back from her and fell down a drain twisting my ankle and spend the rest of her 11th birthday party with ice on my ankle.

Where did you find that Trig? thats not the ones I remember (they were smaller & square, I think with the different Smurfs on them to collect) but it must have been slightly after. I`m going back to the early 80`s though!

With a first snog having that outcome I`m suprised it didnt put you off birds for life...lol

The shelf speakers are a nice touch BTW, although they look a bit too modern... keep an eye out for some blockier black ones, maybe Pye? try to get them big enough to wedge some 6x9`s in!

It was on a stall at Beaulieu motormart the other week, I thought they was smaller as well like these ones i saw.

And if you saw the girl i snogged then that would of been enough to put most people of girls for life as well! (Luckly it wasn't enough to turn me!)

Oh and i bought some black speakers also from Beaulieu that i need to fit for £5 as i'm not keen on the Silver ones myself.

That was number 1 the day my Pug was registered!

Back o/t, I can remember when cars had their own national identity. German cars had granite seats, French cars had soft suspension and Jap cars had chintzy interiors.

Since when was grey & beige plastic `chinzy`? :P

I remember when the authorities merrily granted gun licenses to any old tom dick or mad harry, and they could go off and shoot up a quiet community, including any immediate relatives who happened to get in the way...

Still, the autoshite scenery was better back then.
