Anyone into Allegros? Or know someone that might be?

There's a NOS Aggro estate body knocking about (was on ebay a while ago). Its current owner can't store it, so anyone with a rotten estate need a new body? I think it has wings too.Let me know if you do, he's talking about scrapping it.

Hmm, try the Allegro owners club, someone will probably have it.Be a shame if it got scrapped, estates must be rare as rocking horse shit now. Can't remember last time I saw one.

Suprisingly thats where he's been trying to sell it (he's a member), but nobody wants it... :? I just thought it would be worth a try to mention it elsewhere.

There are some people interested in it I think, but the price is putting many people off.

No good to me sadly but out of curiosity how much do they want for it?

Posted

So He wants £650, but if he scraps it he is likely to only get £100 as a shell ain't heavy................so is it me or does this stink of a threat??

Certainly sounds that way. Hazard a guess not many people will be shedding any tears over it if he does scrap it either. It's a shame because if it does get binned it'll be a waste of something someone could make good use of, but to be fair £650 seems a reasonable price.

He wants £650? He can FRO, you can buy a mint Allegro for that.

Yeah 650 hardly seems a mega rip off to me, 650 does not buy a lot of welding if youre having to pay someone to fix your knackered sills or something.

If it was a Mk2 Escort 2 door shell, it'd be worth £20k or thereabouts. Because Mk2 Escort 2drs are sought after and they can be made into insanely competitive rally cars.It isn't, it's an Allegro estate one. Supply and demand innit? If you can buy a very tidy working Allegro estate for £600 then you're not going to pay £650 for a bare shell. He's not gonna get more than about £40 for it as scrap as the bare shell probably only weighs 150kg or so. It's cheaper than welding sills etc on a rough one, but then there's the cost of shifting the bloody thing, storage, paint, finding NOS stuff to put on it if you want to do it justice. For what? A perfect Allegro estate that would fetch £1500 on ebay? Even then you'd quite often end up with some mouth breathing, PC reading, know-it-all wanker ringing the DVLA and getting the thing put on a Q plate. It's £250, tops.

Yeah I was thinking £200 tops.It does sound like he's bluffing, just hope someone makes good use of it though.

Would be a nice save but Pete-M is right.Any chance a museum might take it? Would be a shame to see it scrapped

I don't know anything about it really I just thought I'd mention it as it seems a waste for it to be scrapped.

Fair price to the right person IMO. If i could get a split new cortina mk3.4 shell for that kind of money i'd be over the moon.Problem is with it being an egg roll estate there's not that many of the "right people" out there

Thanks for mentioning it though, Louise. If there aren't any Allegro perverts in here willing to take it on, the seller is going to have a hard time shifting it for the money.Ask him to donate it instead of scrapping it.
