What year did they make these up too?, Today whilst driving about i saw a mint Silver L reg 3000 GSi 24v being driving by a old man in his 70's with his wife, It had the full bodykit and looked a total minter, Gutted i couldn't get a photo.L reg seems quite late, I though they stopped making the GSi's around 1992's on a J.It was a fine looking car 8) Also just walked past a K reg Daihatsu Applause the road up from mine whilst walking the dog, I'll have to get a photo in the daytime.

I think they lasted till late 93/early 94 when the omega hit the road.

I must be one of the last ones made then, Hopefully I'll see it again at some point.

I saw an L reg one in January, I usually see them on K or J though.

Bit anorak-ish sorry but does that 'BRY' suffix have any relevance to the Luton factory or something? I've seen loads of late Carltons with 'BRY' on the plates (think there's a couple still round here) and it always made me wonder.

I know, I meant an L reg one! Cant even remember what the 3000 looked like, thats how long its been. There is an OAP owned Carlton round here, but its a CDX too I think...

Sorry!, It looked just like that but with all the body kit, Like this but much nicer!

I had a cracking Carlton a few years ago. Alas it was involved in a police pursuit that ended in one of its passengers being killed sparking a weekend of rioting in the Wallasey area. Fucking thing was still registered to me as well!

Jesus Christ!!!! That Transit is asking for a pull!!!!

The Omega (Carlton) Estate I use in Czech sometimes is a '92 or '93 it turns out. Good autoshitey spec one, LHD, white, manual, 2.0, windy window spec, no sunroof, wheeltrim job. It's great.

At the garage where I used to work, an old geezer had an M-reg Carlton 2.6 - M794OAJ I think. What a beauty it was!

we have a one comes into work time to time-3.0i24v. supermotor, one of the coppers favourite cars,i believe.mind you,he puts budget tyres on it,and wonders why they only last ten minutes.as i recall, that was the first car i tried the sport button on the autobox.i thought somebody had flown up a jet up my arse.awesome, especially when the oncoming traffic lights had just turned to red

GSis are fun but 8mpg scares me a bit.

I never managed to get mine to average less than 16, even when trying very hard. 22ish was the norm, and mine was an auto - the manual boxes in the GSi are bloody awful.

Most GSis (GSi's?) seemed to be auto and I bet there's not many left full stop now.A Lotus Carlton is still my dream car.

Unusually, manuals are a bit more fragile than autos, which are pretty much bombproof. The autos are almost as economical. Great cars, as long as the rear arches haven't succumbed to the creeping lightness.

The sound of the 24 valves going over 4k is just immense.A mate of mine at school's dad bought one new in Senator flavour about '91 in Rembrandt Silver. Soon after he got it, we were five up down the A1M at 70 when a Manta passed us flat out. Throttle mashed it didn't take long to reel in...I also remember that it didn't do much more than m-d-teens on the average. He replaced it with a Range Rover Classic felt disappointing as a car by comparison.

I have found those injected straight-six vauxhall engines to be strangely economical. I had a 3.0i senator auto for a while and 30mpg round the doors was no problem to achieve. Steady 70-75 could see 35mpg if you were obsessive.

Same here, but with the V engines. I`ve had roughly 35 mpg from 2 V6 Vectras, don`t know how they do it. 2.0 Cavaliers drink a lot less than comparable 2.0 saloons too.

Hmm. Is that a 'cooking' or 'sportif' version? My brother-in-law has a mega-hot Vectra GSI MSD thingy, I like it as it goes like stink and you can buy one for buttons, but he complains that it's too juicy... this was what put me off, but then he does drive like a nutter....
