Egad! That must be a miserable driving experience.

It's a good conversion for Series Land Rovers but a TD Prima is only about 80hp and even a 200TDi (110hp) is a fairly miserable drive in a Range Rover.I've fitted loads of N/A Primas to narrowboats and they are fine hauling ten tonnes plus along the river at 4 mph but a Range Rover nah....

I imagine if it were possible to fit two of those engines, joined to make a straight eight, it would still be dismally slow.

I reckon I'm about to do the exact opposite. I've found a 306 1.6 8 valve engine to put in my Citroen AX...... Anyone know if it will bolt up to the box etc?? I know it's the right block, but I'm thinking flywheel diameters etc, sump clearance, that kind of issue. It should fly in a straight line, I'm worried about the corners though.................

if only the driveshafts could stay together long enough for you to enjoy it.Are AX..GT driveshafts more sturdy than standard ones ?

I want to be sick. The 635 is my fave Beemer and that poor example has been violated.

I've driven an Omega with the BMW dizzler and not been impressed. I think an LPG conversion would of been better for that poor beemer.

I had a Range Rover with a 2.5 TD Peugeot engine out of a 505. That would have had around 90 brake, and more torque than a Prima too, and that was still painfully slow. I can't see too many rice pudding skins quaking in fear at the sight of that red one.

Pah. Those conversions are crap compared to thisA mighty Fiat 126 4x4!!!!

Imagine, being the person that sees that on ebay and thinks, "yup I'll pay in excess of £200 for that"In fact, imagine actually paying real money, any money at all for that POS.Do the world a favour and just sed it over the bridge.

Where's that bloody ebay listed Mk1 Sierra GL with the 1300 Viva lump?

Saw a Calibra Turbo advertised on ebay for 700 quid. They go for twice that. Unfortunately, it was a Calibra Turbo Diesel. They'd taken the original engine out and put a 1.7td in it. Might actually be good.

I think the 1.7TD is too weedy for anything more than an Astra, but there is lots of tuning potential in those engines.
