NOAH's Ark(ive) of shite

Through a mention of it on Flickr, I've just discovered Norfolk's online archive site. As well as finding reference to some old sales particulars on my house, I discovered that tapping 'cars' into the search page comes up some interesting photos.

Obviously these are all copyright of Norfolk County Council or the photographer, so please respect this. But as they appear to allow them to be linked:

This used to be a car dealership, with flats over the top. I did some work here and the chap showed me some great old photos of it back in those days.

Excellent stuff SL!, It's a shame there isn't any sites like this that cover North Essex/ South Suffolk areas as I'm more familiar with them.

1920's Ford photos, They look very American to me.

I think they look all the better for being in B&W. It makes me very nostalgic for the 80's, even though I thought it was shit at the time.

Trigger, Sudbury has a good archive photo site but I haven’t yet found anything for Ipswich, or Suffolk generally. You’ve found a few there I hadn’t. The Bussey & Sabberton shots are interesting, as Bussey’s are still going locally.

A Cav Commander and a Polonez in the same photo! Pass the tissues!

I think the three wheeler is a Harper - a kind of Invacar

I wonder if the Sabbertons were the same family as the boatbuilders in Wroxham (they of Sabberton Omen fame)?

Excellent pictures SL :D That car park one would make a good entry for PC's memory lane (or whatever its called) feature. Love the primer spotted car Hillman Minx I think :?

Top ones are '30/'31 Model As. Lower one is a late ('26 or '27 Model T I think with another A in the showroom.

Some great pics of Norwich there! 8) Ah, the old Boundary Road Roundabout and Apollo! Memories. One of the flats above there had a nasty explosion a few years ago.

Holy thread resurrection batman! but thought id just mention, although the above URL and all the picture links might be dead, but some sleuthing later I had figured out where they had all fucked off too :)

https://norfolk.spydus.co.uk/cgi-bin/spydus.exe/MSGTRNGEN/WPAC/PICNOR?HOMEPRMS=PICNORPARAMS

looks like they are all over in the above now, just search for cars as per @Spottedlaurel original post (and if you right click open in a new tab, any of the thumb nail images it takes you directly to the full/direct image link for that file, no faffing around with their silly web viewer like so https://norfolk.spydus.co.uk/norpic/neg/30129032931942.jpg )

I mean I could not simply ignore

and you know me, if its even tangentially related to "invacar" "I have a particular set of skills, I will find you" etc etc :)

comparing/splicing together URLs tells me the picture in question was this picture

https://norfolk.spydus.co.uk/cgi-bin/spydus.exe/FULL/WPAC/BIBENQ/77281773/2217805,314

which I amusingly immediately recognised I had already found it last year in much higher res form :) so I was already ahead of my own game LOL

(and although it turned out the image was sadly nothing new to me, I thought I could not, not share how to bring back the rest of the images :) so hope yall dont mind the thread necromancy!)
