Sierra XR8

Bit of a random one but does anyone know what became of this XR8, I vaguely recall it in the 90’s being in the Sheffield area? It had been imported from brand new.

The article above was around 1997 so it was looking good at that point but it’s possible it might have had the 5.0 pulled out of it or by same token could be sat in a lock up. Memory is a bit hazy here when it was doing the shows round Sheffield it was owned by the same guy that brought it to the U.K.

If fast Sierra's are anything to go by, there is a real chance it might have been pinched and burnt out unfortunately. I hope not though.

Not looking great for it...

Though there was a new logbook issued in 2005 so that's something...

I keep having to remind myself that that's still 17 years ago...Sheesh.

It’s a possibility then that its still sat rusting in a lock up somewhere in Sheffield then! The V5 is interesting as it’d been off the road 10 years by that point.

Yeah, wouldn't surprise me if someone's still got it sitting waiting to be restored one day as an "investment" given the way values of fast Fords have gone.

One son is a fast Ford enthusiast, it might not make the auction!

I used to know  the owner he also had a cortina XR6 ( that was sold) & is still about .

Not seen Bob though for must be 20 years doubt he'd have let it rot away, often wonder what be came of it & him.

There was a 2nd one in the UK circa 2000, & I think a 3rd came over a few years back.

Only 100 were built all MK1 5 Dr, in white.

There's approx three XR6 3.0 Sierras over here one is red again MK1 5dr, & a couple of 3.0GLSi sapphires.

I have news...

I dropped the XROC an e-mail, their Sierra guru has confirmed it is still about albeit hasn’t been used for many many years, it’s for sale possibly but requires recommissioning which says to me it’s probably under a dust sheet in a garage somewhere. Don’t worry I’m not about to make an offer, it’s probably worth a million quid.

So, for once, possibly a happy ending in that it’s not fell into the hands of an idiot.

Does anyone have Facebook and could look on the Sierra FSOC site apparently there was an ad on there for it?
