If you can believe it, this is Nigel Mansell leading the 1991 British Grand Prix as taken by me on a Kodak Instamatic on the Hanger Straight, not quite up to the job 😆

Great Pic, the last Grand Prix at Brands then.

Just been reading about this race, did you see Laffite's horrible accident? This is before my time, didn't start watching until 89 or 90...

Yes, and the last I went to. I'd been to the European at Brands in 1985 for the race, but for 1986 I did Saturday and Sunday. I think the picture was from the Saturday practice session.

It was a great place for the GP, so much better than the windswept airfield in Northamptonshire. I also lived only 20 miles from Brands at the time, so it was quite easy to get to.

I was on South Bank for the race, so I didn't see it close by. I have a picture somewhere of Laffite's Ligier on the back of a flat bed when it was recovered.

The Williams cars were so dominant they lapped the whole field twice apart from Prost, who was only lapped once.

PS I started watching at the end of the Jackie Stewart era. They only showed Monaco and the British GP on the BBC then.
