You are right, of course.......  but look at the current MB lineup (granted a bit of duplication and a couple of vans) - beats eighties BL, hands down.

They're at a golf course (and the marker lights on the bumper and fenders). If it was France they'd be chucking lumps of metal about in a sandpit.

In the sense it’s cobbled together from previously independent companies , BL and VAG are somewhat similar. So model range will be larger than it needs to be and there are competing cars within the same group.
