Allen millyard? Yes he is a god. Time served tool maker, only made his first straight 5 kawasaki cos someone gave him a triple in payment for some work and he just "had an idea"! Cuts his casings with a hacksaw and files them clean. Have you seen his viper v10 powered bike yet @hairnet?

I love the way that some of his creations don't even look like mad custom projects - they could realistically pass as factory prototypes, or even production models in some alternate universe. I wonder if any of the older guys at Honda have seen his stuff?

I'm also a big fan of Millyard ! It's amazing that someone can make the stuff he makes in a small garage, using simple hand tools and a basic lathe !

It's a shame he doesn't do four wheels. The Beardmores (remember them ?) had a similar "made in a shed with simple tools" approach back in the 90s, but they usually kept the running gear side of things pretty conventional.

the one creation i have no interest in

no idea why

He built the v10 after GM sold limited numbers of that wierd trike type thing they did with the viper engine in. He was pissed off that they sunk millions of dollars into it as a project then sold them with a written agreement that the purchasers wouldn't actually try to use them.

So he decided he could do better, bought a v10 off ebay out of a written off car and built a motorbike around it from scratch. He has since toured Europe on it. I agree, its the stuff like the kawasaki 5s that get me, but non the less the viper bike is inspired lunacy 🙂

Absolutely remarkable, thanks for getting me onto this

I'm really glad that he is now more relaxed in front of the camera, perfectly exhibited by his references to cup cakes and Greta's phone calls.

His engineering abilities using just hand tools, his wobbly lathe and his barbeque are staggering on their own. Throw his thought processes into the mix too, and it's no wonder he comes up with what he does. Bikes that are perfectly ridable every day, not just exhibition pieces.

I often wonder what a Millyard/Bad Obsession Motorsport collaboration would come up with...
