LDV on Slotmags FTW 8)

Indeed, how cool does that look 8)
I think its running a Rover mill as well, I know the same guy used to have a Sherpa on mags with a V8, was the same colour aswell.

How green is that Sierra!, And that LDV looks mega, Hope it has power steering though!

Posted

Why would someone park his Sierra in front of the garage and forget it there for 15 or more years?

Posted

I find that LDV disturbing. But strangely attractive.

This one for me, please.

I bet he's popular!
Posted

I'd imagine the neighbours absolutely love him! Wonder how long its been sat there? DVLA shows that its SORNed.

Posted

As far as I know the Saffs been sat there for at least eight years. I knocked on the door when I used to do bangers, left notes etc never got a reply. It just gets greener and greener every year. The rest of the house looks like a shit mongers, its in one of the more select areas of town.....about three doors up from the Farrant brothers, who have a nice selection of hot rods and a lovely patina'd 55 Chevy wagon, sadly none of which were on view today. There is a house up the road from me that Ive yet to grab a pic of, in the drive is a hanging Lotus Eclat in the same sort of gaff a the one with the Saff. :)

Wholly fuck! thats a blast from the past, If I'm not mistaken that is Clifford Street in Kingsteignton, that is an old college mate of mine's father's house and his Granada. Last time I saw that granny was about 1998 and I'd known it for a couple of years then, nice to know he still has it. That is (or was) the South West Mini Centre next door, one morning after staying at matey's house there I looked out of his window with a stinking hangover and saw a sea of shite old Minis in every variant, I made it my mission to own a Mini-Van from that day forth. Never did though, would still love a Mini Van (I own a normal Mini at mo which is useless for transporting anything more than my fat arse)

Anyway none of what I've just typed is of any interest to anyone, for that I apologise.

Posted

Shite-miester....bang on, the guy with the Granada has another ropey one on the drive with a tarp over it. The one on the road never moves....ever and he wont sell them.....the Mini centre is exactly as you describe it and matey is really good, he lets my four year old daughter roam about round the back as she loves Minis. Clifford Street is a little gold mine for tat, there is a couple of Mk2 Golfs , a tidy Subaru Brat, and various 90s J-tin.The Proton and the red Fez were on the same street.

Dont you just love going round somewhere youve never been and spying all sorts? Such a thrill.Good spots, love mouldy cars on driveways.

Posted

Got dragged out again today, god knows why people shuffle around in the pissing rain to gawp at shit they dont really need.....still managed a few good spots though....

Tidy Escort estate was lovely.....nearly crashed trying to get a pic, crossflow sounded good though....

Posted

Yeah just down the track in Newton Scabbot......Kingsteignton :)Escort was lovely, matey was pulling out of a side road I wanted to be the one to let him out so I could get a decent side on shot but some scrote beat me to it...and I had a fucking window licker bus in front, it took me ages to catch up. Had a nice set of RS alloys on it. :)

Missed loads more, also had a guy step right out in front of us....so I shouted to him to look where he was going, while he was shouting abuse back he tripped over the curb and went down like a sack of spuds.....ace :D

Posted

Just popped down the shops for some fry up ingredients, been meaning to get a pic of the Golf....these two driveway trinkets never move. The Golf has been sat for nearly a year now and is just starting to go green....

Posted Image

Volvo estate is nice....

Posted Image

Posted Image

Old boy Primera...it takes him five minutes to drive to the shop, but then it takes him three hours to hobble from the car into the shop and back again...He seemed pleased that I was interested in his car though, unfortunately I was starving and could sense a drone coming on so I politely scarpered....

This garage used to be superb for tat, he had a Landcrab hearse on Rostyles at the side for years and years, it was featured in Practical Classics Rust in Peace section in the mid ninties.

If you can get your batty to Totnes I'm sure you'll find some fresh tat.

Posted

I'd forgotten about the Landcrab....was it that long ago....crikey. I havent been down that way for ages, I used to deliver logs to a place around the corner. Totnes is excellent for tat including some mouldy driveway trinkets. Do you remember Nick Wayes scrap yard that used to be out towards Harberton Ford...? Massive place on the side of a hill, man there were some gems in there. I think theres a housing estate there now.

No I don't, I thought that the only scrappers around there were Olympus in Teigngrace, Quarry in Paignton and in the one/s in Milber in your neck of the woods (am I right in saying there were/are two right next to each other?? on that small estate in Milber?) and the one off the Dual Carriageway.Running a Rover SD1 Vitesse as a student back in the mid nineties I was constantly in the scrappers, I was like a kid in a toy shop although there is nothing quite as dangerous as trying to remove the dash of a car with two more on top whilst the scrapyard owner tries to kill you as he dumps more chod around you. Here in Jersey the scrapyard is shit, they never keep anything for more than a day or two and its tiny.
Posted

Yeah...Olympus are still going, although not as a breakers. Mike Smaldon now has a recovery business out a Heathfield, his son Paul has the yard at Teigngrace, they are the main guys around here for the vehicle amnesty. They are heavily into bangers. Pauls a really nice guy and always up for a laugh, one nut case who used to work there would remove the rear shocks from FWDs and go back and forth over the hump back brige outside...fucking nutter. The big yard off the A38, Potters, is long gone and is now a self store gaff. Real fucking shame as they had stuff going back to the twenties. Charles Trent took it over and it went down hill from there, no more popping in for bits and getting them for a few quid, these guys were into price bum-raping and you were no longer allowed to have a mooch about. Instead you had to wait in a freezing counter area while some mong sloped off to see if they had what you wanted, and then you were lucky to end up with the right bits. The one at Milber is still going as Milber Salvage but its all modern stuff.Quarry breakers is still there, Gormans metals own it now. Phil Ross is the gaffer and hes well into his old tat and the big shed in the entrance is full of interesting goodies. I dont know if they still do it but sometimes at Christmas Phil invites you to bring an old car in for a spot of banger racing and general messing about. Went a few years back, right fucking laugh. Fucking mental though, swinging a Fiesta about on the grab while some poor twat is trying to drive it....... There was also a couple of others....one on the way to Teignmouth gone and Gordon Hingstons at Ideford is no longer, and AJ Spares in Newton is now a block of biddy flats......fucking shame.....

I saw my first Rover P5b Coupe in that yard but my only other memories of that place are as you say waiting at a counter while some gorilla gets you the wrong bits.If only I had the foresight to take pictures of scrapyards 10 years ago, think you can buy books with scrapyards in but they're 'oh so cool' 1950s ones featuring cadillacs or VW split-screen campers, I want to see mk2 Granadas, BMW E21s and Datsun Cherries :(Bloke in Quarry was great, very friendly and always called people 'Duck' in a camp northern way.

If its the guy who has a weird tongue chewing habit he still works there. :)

Todays offerings.....I was in a stinking mood as I had to traipse around fucking Homebase......but I was pleasantly surprised to find the car park was playing host to a fair bit of tat....bonus.....

Nice Nova.....

Granada has been in the same spot for about five years....I tried buying it back then but matey wanted too much for it considering there is grot around the rear pillars and sills, and its only a Pinto one.........and because I had my recovery with me I had a hard job persuading him that I wasnt gonna race it.....staring to get a bit rough now.....
