I don’t know if this helps but I’m sure it doesn’t have a cat it was always really thirsty for a little engine.

I'm pretty certain it doesn't from memory. I think only the Eunos did early on and had a rather scary warning light if the internal heat fuse popped.

I was getting the odd whiff of petrol when I went on my drive the other day.

I've been quoted off a mate £380.
Grind out both rear arches, spray one of my black doors and repaint both sides.
Is that cheap enough?

That sounds pretty cheap to me! There might be less metal left behind those arches than you expect though. They normally rust from the inside out

Yes, he did warn me about tbem. I've booked in for next Wednesday. He's done work for me in the past and he's always been A1. He mostly does insurance work. I presume this is a favour. I fixed his boiler a year or two back and didn't charge him.

Door swap in progress. I need to change the hinges too as the old ones were worn and the door had dropped slightly.
I vactaned the small pieeces of rust while it's off.
The hinges are a pain to change I can only get about an eight turn on each of the bolts.e8521f8f2fa4fd5a53170a0fbeef0565.jpgebfd71c1e4c74a8d15d6c5b1db310445.jpgb077674fb381c1328370e087a295e1e5.jpg794673572b70ce04e31d84a1faad182a.jpg

New one on. Looks pretty well aligned. I'll let my mate jiggle it to perfection. It's too hot to be pissing about with the finer details. b221c8582a73d5449c5d369ff091be32.jpg

Anyone know which are the speaker wires here? Two have been cut and two are on a connector block. cd5acf5cb7d8566691fe0ac1f49e4d51.jpg

Shower, then I'll have to take it on a essential run to make sure it doesn't fall off.

Speakers should be red, windows green, not sure on blue - central locking ? Didn't think black car had that

Which way are you heading ? I may tag along for a quick wee blast in the sun

Just seen your post. I've just been to tesco's and I'm back now. Apologies.
I'll have to get some spade connectors and cut that plug off. The speakers were upgraded so it won't fit.

I've bought an expanding file for the paperwork. It has every mot and every reciept from new. Very substantial. I don't think I've owned a car with this much history.42fdc57921488766fde92301e3f4b103.jpg

Err, what’s that in the bottom left hand corner ? Looks like a naked lady and the number 4 :)

Quite right. It's some sort of decal. It looks quite old.
I went through the history and it's had a few owners but@motorpunk seems to be the first male one. Not that I'm insinuating he was a hairdresser or owt d871bf6fc53a1d1d8160a3eebe60c23d.jpg

I used to drive one of the oldest Eunos in the UK. One of the first batch made with the original spec rorty exhaust from new. I think it was one of the first 500 made.

I'm over 6 ft and never had any issues fitting in it.

This is the 2nd oldest uk car in the country. I know what you mean about the exhaust. It's raw without being intrusive.

Did they not design the exhaust note off the sound off an mg of something or other?

I think it was the Lotus Elan it was meant to sound like. Sounded bloody great.

Unfortunately, I think it was Mazda UK who asked them to quieten it down.

You seem to be flying with the work on this, although IME it's always more of a pleasure to go outside and work on a 'weekend' car rather than some soulless 'get you to work' thing.

I reckon when the time comes you'll have a queue of potential new owners!

I “won” that competing in the Scumball rally! You got a sticker at the end of each stage. I did a few laps of the Nurburgring in that car in 2006, bloody terrifying! It was on the telly.

Arches - They never had anything but filler and a blow-over during my ownership. I was quoted something like £500 to cut out and weld in replacements and paint them and just couldn’t justify it. You can’t see them from the drivers seat. But I hope you do it anyway as it’s great to see the car getting the love it deserves.

Gearbox. They recorded the MGB gearbox sound and replicated that.

The exhaust was welded for an MOT way back. Just like an MGB...

It didn't get any advisories on the mot. The exhaust must still be fine. It has lost the baffles out of the back but it's not too loud.
