Superb; well worth a diversion if I'm ever down that way, with ordering ten gallons of Regular the icing on the cake :)

I would be more than up for a day out there to fill up.It would take me a full tank in the Amazon to get there anyway. There is an old place in Comberbach where a bloke comes out and fills your tank for you. I must see if he's still there actually.

Did a job in a semi abandoned petrol station, it had gallons on the pumps and a map in the office that had most of the M25 designated by a dotted line. Added to that the zombies made it very spooky.... Also, when we came in for the second day, overnight somebody had taken the time to pick gravel off the hard standing and used it to spell out the word DIE in front of the office door. It wasn't the Art Dept either. :shock:Wouldn't have stopped me moving in if it was offered though.

I have been served at those VERY pumps, about 20 years ago when I lived in Great Bedwyn. My 1970 Land Rover, my Dad's 1969 Mercedes 200, and.....................Peter De Savary's Model T Ford, and a Derby Bentley.............(I used to work for him back then, whilst he had a car museum at Littlecote House) Proper lovely scruffy little garage too...........I would buy it if I could, and just hoard shite. Loads of it!

It is quite far away for a day-trip. Better for a weekend away I think. The last attendant-run petrol station I saw was at the end of Spa Lane, Lathom (next to The Plough at the crossroads). Sadly, it was demolished many moons ago and houses built on the site... :(

Was this for 28 Days Later by any chance?

It was modelled on it, just a short film about Zombies set in the 80s. The petrol station was near Luton, it had been on a busy road, then the by pass opened and it was left stranded. The bloke that owned it (and the substantial amount of land with it) was universally hated by the neighbours, he was keeping it as is till he was ready to sell. It had 4 pumps (that still powered up), room round them for at least a 16 ton truck, a workshop, office, other rooms and what was even a cafe in the low building on the land. Trust me I would have moved in like a shot, specially if we could have convinced a company to deliver fuel.....

Last time i went to a garage with an assistant who fills your car up was in 1999, near alton towers. Looked very much like this one, wonder if its still there.

There are still a few full service stations on France, freaked me out the first time I pulled up and they leapt for the pump. I don't think there is anywhere left with assistants in the UK now....

There's a Shell near me had people filling cars and washing windscreens for tips last year. Don't know why, I only saw it once.

Picture won't load for me but I know exactly where you mean.Keep meaning to grab a picture of that and load it on here. I think they were still selling fuel about 12 years ago as you'd occcasionally see the old boy out there.Fiesta hasn't moved since the year dot I think
