I've always wanted a Scirocco. Like since I first clapped eyes on one. That sounds ace! However it won't be mine. POOR! However still in honeymoon with new wheels!Might be one for Mr HillmanImp tho!Scotty?

Posted

ooo cheap scirocco.... tempting... curses that I have no cash/too many cars.I'll ask about my shite - hawk mates on that one! Stick up a pic if you get a chance :)

Posted

Scirocco's are ace!!! :D

why mines still sat here waiting for a power upgrade  it's the cleanest (i.e. rustfree) one i've had

We've got quite a nice C-reg Scirocco GTX 1.8 up for sale and its actually quite a nice car. Failed its MOT on 3 very minor items (cheap to fix!) and it needs some paintwork - but useable as is once its got ticket. Can't remember the price but its pretty cheap!

Have you got any pics? Have posted this on the Scirocco Register forum. I cant get another car at the mo as i have no room, but someone more local might, especially a GTX.

I have seen the sirocco and the Talbot.Me and my mate may be buying the Talbot. However the other stuff we saw in the yard would make a grown man cry.The cars in there that have to be scrappped because of the scrappage scheme is nothing short of criminal. One or two cars we saw arent scrappage but the owners didnt want thema dn they now have to go.i will post some pics i took very shortly.

Oh thats great news if you save the TalbotThey are so rare down south mate!!!!!Keep us posted if you doOh nice cars you got there too,i have 2 marinas both k reg one coupe and one saloon!!cheersRichie :D

Hi Ritchie i will keep everyone posted.I have sold my Montego but my Marina and Ital aint going anywhere. As an aside in my home town not 4 miles away there is another solara that is for sale. However this is the base model on a creg in the really fetching colour of beige!

Posted

Maybe you could make a good one out the two,use the beige one for body panels??I would love a Chrysler Alpine,i have always wondered why there are just none around? Were they really that bad?I remember seeing quite a few around when i was younger(about 12 years oldish and i am 31 now if that gives you an indication how long ago that was?) and then they just disappearedIf i was really lucky i might see a talbot solara maybe at a car show but that has been about 2 or 3 years agoI remember the engines were quite tappy ,but from what i can gather they were like that from new and just a bit pants lolAm i the only one that remembers them ?or is that am i the only one sad enough too lolcheersRichie :D

It's not always a case of them being bad, just that they were disposable items and at ten years old, worthless and unfashionable.Since they have stayed that way for twenty years, its a wonder any have survived at all.Cortinas were the same, but there are still some about purely because they built a shitload of the things!

Posted

Yeah that seems to be be the general feeling on them mateActually you might be able to help me Cortina DaveI have been offered a Dreg Ford Capri 1.6 laser, its metallic grey and a bit tatty, its done about 80.000 miles and very short mot and tax, what would you say its worth ?cheersRichie :D

Posted

Short tax and test on a tatty laser means it's not worth a lot (good news for you!)I'd say up to about £350 ish depending on how much you want it..

Posted

Thanks mate,The lady is a customer that comes on our shop fairly regularly, she wants £500 for it which i feel is steep for a car that is tattyI am going to see it saturday,i had thought about it as a tart up car and sell on but i don't know what a nice one is worth really,so i am probably not going to go for it,I like Capris but not really worried about owning one to be honest, might see if anyone else is interested in the car??cheersRichie :D

Posted

In fairness, done up and nice a good laser will fetch 1200-1500, so not bad. It's not something you're likely to lose on given that anything A) ford and B) old seems to be going up in value a lot at the moment.Good 2.8's are often £2.5k plus now so it will get to the point where no one can afford them and so the value of lasers will go up too.

Posted

Thanks Dave,Thats good to know for when i go and see it SaturdayAm i right in saying the 1.6 laser is the least desirable Capri?cheersRichie :D

Well the old Solara is still sitting here so it looks like its days are still numbered... its a rusty thing so I don't particularly mind but there can't be many left & there might yet be someone out there who would love it.

A banger racer might say 'Buy it or I'll race it' but I don't do threats, yet there's no getting away from the inevitable...

Oh I hope some comes forward!!If i wasn't the other side of England i would of taken it on but Scotland is an incredible distance to get a car recovered to Gatwick,i dread to think how much it would costI reckon the amount of solaras left must be in the double figures now!!its such a shamecheersRichie :D

Posted

Whats the current price and does it have a ticket ?(I haven't read the rest of this yet)

Posted

Going up at the weekend hopefully be returning with the solara.Does it have a Mot out of interest?

Posted

Fantastic news!!!Well done mate, thats really good,i am so pleased someone is going to save it,rusty or not!!good luck, let us know if you save it,if you got an mot on it you would be able to pass it on to someone if you didn't really want itcheersRichie :D

Posted

Do people actually save these? I can only see this ending up as a cube.

it seems every car has some kind of following.a mate of mine loves old VW Jettas, another mate has 2 Vauxhall Viva HCs and likes Austin Maestros.mine I suppose has to be Escort MK 4s, I dunno why, but I love 'em!

My uncle owns a garage in Wrexham and usually gives me a ring when something he thinks might be of interest to me comes in on P\X.a year or so ago a low milage Talbot Tagora owned by a vicar came in, but he didnt let me know and scrapped it saying 'I didnt think that would your thing'.He was probably right, I wouldnt have wanted it for myself, but shame to see it binned.

I rather think there would have been rather a lot of people hereabouts who would have wanted it though...

yep, rare as hens.

Ill be honest, I didnt know that then - I was still a bit annoyed that he got rid of it without asking but didnt think there would be any real market for it - thought of it a bit like an Alpine or Solara
