Wingz123 Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Nissan 2.7 tdi engine or no turbo? I've seen these with 500k on before
320touring Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Good effort - assuming it's auto? Should be a comfy and leisurely drive back
Lacquer Peel Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Nissan 2.7 tdi engine or no turbo? I've seen these with 500k on before At this age I think it has a 2.5 VM common rail diesel. Edit: Wikipedia says Ford Duratorq 2.4 TDCi.
Paulinprague Posted July 22, 2019 Author Posted July 22, 2019 Yup, the Ford Duratorq 2.4. The transit engine. Refined ? davehedgehog31 1
barefoot Posted July 23, 2019 Posted July 23, 2019 I was looking forward to a story about an air cooled VW. Paulinprague, djim, SiC and 1 other 4
Stanky Posted July 23, 2019 Posted July 23, 2019 I've driven one of these with the same engine which had over 1,6 million miles on the odometer, it was surprisingly comfortable and actually went ok. don't try and go faster than 60, it makes lots more noise but goes no quicker. Also the steering has amazing lock which is worth bearing in mind when doing 60, don't over steer! Floatylight, LightBulbFun and Paulinprague 3
TataBobu Posted July 23, 2019 Posted July 23, 2019 Nice one! When i asked DVLA, they said I could drive an UK registered car on Romanian insurance providing I've just bought it, and was on the way home. I would need a ferry crossing booked or a ticket for going under the channel. How do you plan to insure it?

Will have to swap lights for lhd and technical check to get Czech registration
Paulinprague Posted July 23, 2019 Author Posted July 23, 2019 Fellow Traveller. Tickman, Saabnut, Lacquer Peel and 8 others 11
Paulinprague Posted July 24, 2019 Author Posted July 24, 2019 Took 20 hours. One close call with a contraflow system in Germany that left a bloody great scar down Tess's off side ( two ton Tessie) and a rushing fan type noise that happens under acceleration. Exhaust manifold? Anyway, I'm shagged. Night all 500tops, LightBulbFun, Mrs6C and 3 others 6
