Adverts at top of screen

Does anyone else actually see a Google advert at the top of Autoshite?I get various error pages depending on what browser I'm using.. sometimes it's an advert-sized error saying 'invalid address' but other browsers make that massive, and put my beloved Autoshite down into the bottom 1/5th of the page. Makes it pretty unreadable :(Notmally I'm against advertising, but I guess it's a nice trickle of cash into the AS coffers and I'm happy with that. Gotta be some reason for the management to run the site, right? But given that it's 'invalid address', do they even get paid by google?I'd prefer to have an actual advert there than an error page TBH.... can management sort it out?

I just get a white box along the top saying 'This webpage cannot be found'

Today I just have a plain white box with nothing at all in it!

I think the management didn't cooperate with Google, so the googsters pulled the plug on the whole adverts for cash thing. I recall either Electric Ladylumps or Mr Septic explained that the advertisement 'fail' fits quite well with the style of the site so they left it. I agree - except that I have to hit backspace twice to go back a page (a Google ads url flashes up on the first click).

See to me it makes it look like a forum nobody maintains.... error pages. And yeah on some browsers the double-backspace thing is really ittirating! Opera doesn't do it, but Opera Mini on my phone makes the failvert huuuuuge.

I don't get anything, white box or error, but then Firefox is pretty good at getting rid of stuff like this

Likewise, nothing here at all, also Firefox.

I get that when I'm at home. Always have to hit back twice whereas at work I click back once and it works. Different versions of IE I suppose?

Me too, Firefox blocks the lot, I don't see any advertising at all.

Does it block ads too? Cos I am getting glitches with Firefox (like it's not retaining my sign ins, if I shut the computer down). Never tried Opera.

Opera has a 'content blocker' which would probably do the same thing. Opera 10 is ruddy quick, has a nice 'speed dial' quicklinks section and other nicities. I will admit it doesn't have all the funky plugins of Firefox though.

The content blocker doesn't work, but I've just taken a few seconds to install Adsweep which has worked a treat, no more shonky advert.

Oh, I know all about Firefox, I've just ditched it due to terrible memory usage and some interesting new bugs introduced in 3.5 :?

Latest one is indeed not great, first one I've had issues with, in years.

That Advert at the top has been a gripe of mine for a while, Really annoying having to back space twice everytime i want to go back to the thread page. Also when was the last time the main site was updated, When i first came on here i thought it was a dead site as the stories were so out of date, Most of the stories look like they haven't been updated since 2006. I wonder how many people don't find this forum because of that?

You're quite right there, we didn't exactly cooperate with Google! we got kicked off for clicking on the ads on our own site (we made $60 in a day or so!).Saying that, I have recently downloaded the forms for their appeals process & am going to see if they'll let us back into the fold. Not holding my breath though!

My netbook just cant hack Firefox 3.5.2, so I switched to Flock - which firefox but an earlier version with twiddly bits for Twatter and Facebolox users. Chrome is OK and blocks ads, but is a PITA to use.
