I love that Subaru Rex copy, the rear lights look like they're off a toy car

Don't they always look like that? The ones in Malta did!

Again saw another 2 shiters today, only just rememberedA fair condition MK 2 Fiesta being driven down the M3.A late MK 4 escort on a H plate, meaning it was one of the last sold. The other day i saw a MK1 Granada Coupe on a flatbed, possibly being raced but it looked too far gone for even that, was so rusty the offside front wing had practically fallen off.

Meh. I took my camera out with me yesterday and all I saw was a Mk1 Fiesta (which will appear when I update my spotted thread) and that was it. I haven't got the camera today so I'll probably see allsorts of rare, delicious tat.

on my way to worcester on monday i saw a very early pale blue carina e on a j plate and later an identical car on a k. plus loads of classics heading to some show or another.

bloody hell, it happened again todayI was in my mums car on the way back from Camberley (yes that same place AGAIN)and I saw a lorry approaching, and i thought it looked a bit old....It was a Ford Transcontinental Artic, with a trailer.Looked mint.

well, a little biiiit.

Yesterday I popped out to the supermarket, and whipped my phone out to photograph a Morris Minor waiting at some traffic lights. While I was cocking about turning the flash off (never fire a flash at someone in a car  ) a restored Routemaster bus drove by. Argh. What are the chances of that happening (outside London)?

Managed to snap the Renault 25 yesterday, as if by luck, it parked right next to where i was walking!

Posted

Vauxhall Sintra and Toyota Picnic in the same road in Diss. Argument with wife (which is, incidentally, still going on) meant I couldn't find my Nokia to snap them in time.

Have been out and about the last few days on Official Business, so shite-snapping was out of the question :( So I missed, in no particular order, Pugs 205 and 405, derelict A reg Honda CRX, Land Rover 110 CSW with a hole in the bulkhead you could put your fist through, Charade (K reg, but I haven't seen one for years)frogface Scorpio, Citroen BXs, basic diesel and immaculate 'Hurricane', and a couple of derelict looking Carlos Sainz era Celicas in a locked up yard together with a couple of later MR2s. So, it's still out there and that's without looking. :)

Im going to use this thread to post pictures of cars i have seen but missed, but then manage at last to picture!

Perhaps you lot could do the same:wink:

Heres the 25:

I saw an X plate Cavalier the other day.And it was MKIIIX plate, as in 1999/2000.Not impossible, Id like to think its a case of a back of lot car forgotten about for 4-5 years.

Posted

How about this for a no snap spot - 09 plate special order only sir Hyundia Grandeur!!! Wafting along the M25 thursday, shortly joined by a Nissan President! FTW!!!

I managed to notspot an utterly beautiful MkII Sceptre today in Royston, totally original & mint with elderly type at the helm. Phonecam was trapped in an obscure corner of my pocket, having a party with some fluff.

X prefix was Sep 2000 - March 2001.Sure it wasn't some kind of personalised plate?
Posted

But you can't make it look newer with a personalised plate. An X-prefix plate can only be applied to cars that originally had an X or newer reg.It could have been an old personalised plate, I've seen a few like XCJ 215X spaced to make X CJ215 X or something. That would be allowed. Don't some odd little islands use weird-looking registrations that look like UK ones, but aren't? Isle of Man and all that lot. I know Jersey use the Js, what about Gurnsey?

Posted

Jersey was as you say J ***** followed by numbersGuernsey are just numbers Isle of Man are IIRC All prefixed MAN ****

I tell you what plates I'd like to know about, I keep seeing modern cars with black & silver plates, no markings or identifiers from what I can tell, no national stickers or anything to help, just black plates with silver lettering front & rear, they look like they shouldn't be legal - so what's the story? I failed to note whether the cars are RHD or not

Posted

I think Guernsey plates are Silver on Black, and just numbers. If they are UK cars, they you are only supposed to have Black on Silver up until 1973. Anything after should be Black on White/Yellow.Nothing to stop people getting "show use only" ones made up.

Posted

The plate was something likeX111 VBDNot sure on the last 3 letters but it was X111 followed by 3 letters

All this talk of Cavaliers reminds me of the one I've seen twice now in the last three months - bright green Mk I Cav on something like a 'W' plate driving into Liverpool Centre from Seaforth. Must try and get a pic next time I see it.

Posted

I havent seen a mk1 on the road for about 10 years.I have seen 2 MKIIs in the past 2 months, and about 50 MKIIIs hahahActually, 50 is an understatement, there so bloody common.

Oh god, the past week has been hell for missed spots.here we go-2 Nissan BluebirdsRover SD1Triumph 2000 mk2C reg StarletBelmontD reg MKIII GrannyFreight Rover panel vanMKIV Escort estate2 Renault 21 SavannaOld SAABA weird Mitsubushi Estate, one of the late 80s Lancers with that boxy shape. The ex highways agency MKIV escort van continues to tease, always passing but never stopping. And the worst one, whilst i was waiting for the bus i heard a familiar but long gone sound, the sound of a unrefined mid 80s diesel, and smoking past me is a 1985 Sierra MKI 2.3 Diesel.Havent seen one for ages. Oh and a 1986 Audi, i think it was a 90, im not too sure with Audis but it looked identical to a Quattro but was a saloon.I need a better camera.

I keep not-spotting a Daihatsu Fourtack pick-up type thing. K reg I think.

Posted

I keep seeing an Opel Kadett Estate, proper LHD example in NATO green - definitely not "scene" in any way. I suspect it has something to do with the military surplus shop nearby, bet there's an interesting story behind it.

Day off so out to deepest Worcestershire today, unfortunately without camera. :( Parked almost next to very nice original E-reg Senator 3.0, and within half an hour had seen a late Pony X2, Sunnies F and J reg, an unidentified boxy looking chrome-bumpered estate (80's Jap?) and on the truck side a J-reg Scania 113 gully-emptier 8) and one of those MANs that look like the earlier LT, as well as the Scania 93 cattle truck I snapped a couple of months ago, all in everyday use.The Marches are prime shite-spotting territory; there must be a gap in the market for guided tours :)
