Right, um, the CX is back home with its new alternator running. I've even managed to get the air horn working again. Is very loud.

The other random wiring in the engine bay remains a mystery; Monsieur Dubois reported so many wiring irregularities - the work of six previous owners and their mechanics - that he thought it a wonder that there hadn't been a fire. At one point he was calling his colleagues over to come, look and laugh at the comedy cabling.

The bill was sizeable. The next bill will be even more sizeable if I ask him to take the wiring back to basics. I'm probably going to need a new camshaft pulley wheel as the current one runs noticeably eccentrically. Hope that's not a sign of a bent camshaft.

Looks like "the mistress" will be coming to Coventry in the morning..... My co-driver is resigned to not having her Saturday lie-in.

Apparently, my kid brother went to this in his owned from new, green/white G reg Dolly with strangely huge bumpers/big boot/side exit exhaust - the last time I saw it.

You would have recognised him in a trice for he wears shoes and also looks nothing like me.

Didn't break down going home this time, and passed 80,000 miles; only took 31 years to get there. Thought that went very well...

This was an absolutely amazing weekend!! 

Had an absolute blast. Saw some exceptional cars. Took hundreds of photos, so will have a look for the best few to upload here!

Good to meet a couple of Shiters i’d not met before, and to shout hello to RichardMorris if not the chance to talk to! Seemed to miss most of the fellow shiters though! 

It was a wonderful event all the same!

(When my cousins were little my uncle had a Tempra station wagon, but since he sold it I have never, ever seen another one in the metal.)

I certainly did! Didn't have enough cash on me to take away what I wanted, but the trader said I could pay him via PayPal (which I've now done) and he'd send the part by post. Much wanted bit, at a fraction of the price that CX-Basis charges!

I got tyre squeal on the Coventry ring road chicanes- roof off, lights on, tyres shrieking and horn beeping. Great!

Oh no not a brownnova cameo... 

Also got good levels of understeer and tyre squeal... until I got stuck behind an interloping Audi TT! It was crawling through the track. I wish I’d gone round for a second go like a certain someone....

My first run, I was stuck behind a VERY slow XM. But, because there were no marshalls, we got confused and ended up having a second go around. Then I really went for it. And almost binned it...

If I’d had a second go I’d have gone harder to be honest! 

First chicane I thought was just traffic calming, then realised I was on the track section, gunned it more through the next ones then got stuck behind Mr Audi!

We arrived Friday and were greeted by many other Citroens. Our little Daisy repaid me by biting me hard (the open window fell on my fongernail hard... it’s very black now!)
