AXrescuer Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Saw this over on another forum and just had to share it! Bedford Road in Clapham circa 1981 apparently!
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 LOL at the appropriate poster in the background.
brammy777 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Judging by the fact there is an L plate on that bike, thats a slight baptism of fire.Wonder if they decided to carry on biking? that would put me right off.
25v6turbo Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Isn,t that second picture Kingston road going towards New malden??,i,am sure that the Robert peel boozer in the background.
pompei Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 This is why I never fancied biking. I'm just a coward. Bloke at work nearly killed himself earlier in the year, in hospital for weeks, and yet he's got a new bike and he's off out on it again ... I suppose it must be something in the blood.
Richard Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Judging by the fact there is an L plate on that bike, thats a slight baptism of fire.Wonder if they decided to carry on biking? that would put me right off. Before CBT became mandatory in the early 1990s people used to ride indefinitely on L plates.
brammy777 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 i was going to say something about CBT, but i wasnt aware of when it came in, but now i know Still, you'd never get me on a bike. ever.
trigger Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I've never been very keen on bikes but i was totally put of about 10 years ago when the young mechanic in the workshop next door to the one i work in got killed on his after a Sunday evening ride with his mate after a lady pulled out of a side road on a corner in front of him.It shocked me as he was only 21 at the time and didn't ride like a nutter at all.
metrognome Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Saw this over on another forum and just had to share it! Bedford Road in Clapham circa 1981 apparently!Judging by the way he is rubbing his arse the poor twonk must have landed on it.......OOHHHAAYA ya bastard!
j-j Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 ^^ excellent lack of laminated windscreenage there on the R16!-French plates too? Tourist on shit holiday
STUNO Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Am I right thinking that the 16 has been hit on the right wing ? If thats the case what was the biker doing to be there
Mr H Sceptre Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Saw this over on another forum and just had to share it! Bedford Road in Clapham circa 1981 apparently!Wonderful photo!Love it! Agreed with the rest of you - bikes leave me cold, because a) they are scarily dangerous, they look shit & c) you have to wear gay looking leather clobber. Nah, happy to leave bikes to other folk.
reallyloud Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I was eager to get on the roads at 16 and me and my mates all invested in 50cc bikes, ranging from Suzuki trail bikes to pizza delivery type bikes. By the time I got to 17, 3 of my mates got involved in serious crashes, which resulted in 2 of them cashing their chips in. I blame it on both the inexperience/stupidity of the bikers and the general carelessness of the driver. Mother dearest made me sell the bike, and I lost interest soon afterwards.
MrRegieRitmo Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 It's only when I get sick at yet another waste of part of my life stuck in another sodding queue that I become envious of the bikers who just carry on through!
shite_meister Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I wonder if the bloke is saying "Geddup you twat, look what you've done to my beautiful Renner"?I think bikes are like Marmite.
Guest Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I wonder if the bloke is saying "Geddup you twat, look what you've done to my beautiful Renner"Levez-vous twat-regardent ce que vous avez fait àmon beautifull Renault
Guest Kyle Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Am I right thinking that the 16 has been hit on the right wing ? If thats the case what was the biker doing to be there I should imagine he was minding his own business and going about his day!Thats where he should be, the 16 has t-boned him at the junction. Driver probably thought he was still in France and looked left instead of right.
scooters Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Saw this over on another forum and just had to share it! Bedford Road in Clapham circa 1981 apparently!bloody nora - 3 years ago I nearly got t boned and creamed on a push bike peddling up Bedford Road - not by a Renner though! by some twunt in a vectra
Richard Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 The French driver might have been conditioned to pulling out of junctions without stopping because the Priorité àDroite rule was still widespread back then.

Driver probably thought he was still in France and looked left instead of right.Lets sort this one out..outside you I still say the BIKE was on the wrong side of the road.Well that's two of us outside with ya now The Frog driver has been hit on the passenger side and we tend to drive on the left in the UK unlike France. So it appears that then Frog pulled out on the biker. Any claims that the Frog may have been thinking about priority of traffic coming from the right is silly because the bike appears to have been coming from the right - hits the wing on the right of the Renner - biker bounces off windscreen and lands on his (now) bruised arse on the other side of the car. I've ridden bikes since I was 16 and you really have to learn from the beginning that most people in cars drive around with their heads up their arses - that's it pure n simple
HillmanImp Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I never showed an interst in bikes at all until a few yearsa ago when i got myself a little 125cc to get tot work on to save cash. Within about 2 weeks i needed a faster one and i got my VFR. Took mine out a few times round the country roads in Yorkshire racing about with the other fools but you can only get away with that so many times. Hit some oil and you are in a wall and the most valuable thing in your wallet is no longer your credit card but your donor card. Sold the bike at the end of last year. Dont think i will get another in the near future. Plus this website makes a serious point: http://www.milky.org.uk/xargle/mmyg/

Torsten2001 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Oh, and the bike looks like a rare Cossack Minsk 125!
brammy777 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Its not that i dont like bikes, or anything without a roof, i would just rather a car, and not a scooter for 3 years after my CBT. Ive driven high powered quads and a snowmobile (for 4km) and loved it, snowmobiles are insane.
gtd2000 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Plus this website makes a serious point: http://www.milky.org.uk/xargle/mmyg/I think that's something about the world we live in today as opposed to the world we used to live in. When I first started off on my FS1E 50cc back in 1982 Homosexualists hadn't even been invented and if they had ( ) I certainly didn't know of any that were so inclined. I always found that having a bike dampened the gusset of many a lass and this was part and parcel of owning a bike from my experience. Perhaps I was just a naiive young lad and didn't realise that I was allowed to come out of the closet (being into bikes and shagging women n'all) - actually, I've still not been able to do so, some 27 years later... Coincidentally, a few years back, I had a discussion with one of my pals and I did question whether it was really the bikes we were into or the women...
Torsten2001 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Actually it really does make a serious point, but mainly about Harley Davidsons
STUNO Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 MY humblest apologies to all..I have just had a good look and a totally sober think..IDIOT...IDIOT etc And I call myself a professional driver !
