That 159 had better be hundreds of miles away from me, Glen, and much more expensive than you suggest!

Harley Davidson do seem to be the motorcycle equivalent of VW vans.

Unless there's two of these I've seen this in the flesh. You can't appreciate just how awful it is until you see it up close...

A 159 was the first new car I ever had and everyone told me I was mad for getting it especially given the nearest dealer was 90 miles away. It was magic and I really loved it, nothing ever went wrong with it. I think they look so good you can forgive them their quirks (like being able to press the stop button at 30 mph and the steering lock comes in). The German stuff I've had since is a bit meh, after the 159.

Conscious that my thoughts and opinions cause offence - why the fuck would anyone pull the engine and box out of a Magnum?

Having said that fitting it with an 1100cc vauxhall donkey would be a hoot.

Anyhoo - how about this (in a white room no less)

Every time that black 505 GTI gets sold the new buyer seems to re-list it on ebay a few weeks later.  Methinks there's something a bit suspect under all that hyperbole..

Concourse condidtion? Err...

He`s made a fantastic job of it without doubt - I just canna see the point of going to all the trouble to make a pickup with the practical properties of the tits on a bull.............

If my understanding of the bizarre licence loopholes in this country is correct, next year I would be able to drive this on my car licence.  Could be interesting.  Although not as interesting as the neighbours' reaction if I were to park it outside my house.

Also, if I may add, turn up at a Rover owner's club meet and you'd be killed with pitchforks, nasal hair and wood inserts. They may also hang you from a tree with grey slacks.

There was a time when I would have been daft enough to lug a pair of truck batteries down to Kent, jump in this and attempt to drive it home.  Sadly no longer.

Hard to believe this is the same age as the Van Hool Volvo above.

I read somewhere (I'm pretty sure it was actually the DVLA website) that if you passed your car test before 2001 or something, you could drive a bus that was over 30 years old as long as you didn't use it for passenger carrying duties.

Correct Sir - but you may not carry any passengers for hire or reward.

So there.

* Edit * that was as of errr, um, 1994 when I took the PCV test........ just seen your later post.

I've never even thought of owning a bus. Somehow it seems a flipping brilliant idea to drive to work in a coach and take up half the office car park. Maybe paint 'RICHARD ROSE' down the side in big letters so everyone could check me out. I'd probably have to wait till everyone else had gone home in order to be able to get it out mind you.
