Has anybody clocked this SAAB on the blue forum? Its got a 16v turbo engine and engine management from a 1997 9000…. 250BHP supposedly! I would love a shot in it, I bet it’s a proper scream wasting boy racers and tailgating shitehawks in lease cars. Looks brilliant too, loving those steels. RESTECP. £1500 which doesn’t seem obscene, but I bet he ends up selling for a fair bit less.

I’ve got a lot of time for those old SAAB 900’s, specially the 5-doors. the former Ms_Ballz’s legendary Cumbrian hill farmer and market-trader fatha always insisted on using them for their toughness, towing skillz, and ability to scrabble up their terrible uphill gravel driveway in thick snow. He always had 3 or 4 sets of those rubber spring assisters in the rear coils to help carry absurdly heavy loads (“Theyre a real twat to get in, have to boil them up in a pan of water, use loads of fairly liquid and wear thick gloves, ha ha ha!!!â€Â) and always used to curse the front calipers in em (‘theyre shite those things on the handbrake, I wind em up for the MOT so it scrapes through then wind em out again when I get home, ha ha!!!â€Â) Used to take my hat off to him every Saturday night when he got home after a tough day flogging meat and sheepskins on Keswick market, normally he’d stop at the Spar shop on the way home and start relaxing early with a  couple of cans of John Smiths or whatever as he drove up the A686. RESTPEC.

I think I’d like a late-model 16v 5-door, very ‘businesslike’ driving position in em, a pleasure to drive.

I've seen that red 250bhp one on the UKSaabs forum. If the power quoted is true (and there's no reason why it wouldn't be, that would be an absolute hoot to go Audi baiting in.

Until the gearbox explodes, of course......

I must agree with Mr. Botox. I'm increasingly warming up to them and seeing that the prices apparently are still southbound at the moment, one of these coatis from Trollhattan could potentially become the next WBoD of the Junkman Clan.

Unfortunately it's red.

Saabs  have aged well in my opinion, expecially the ones with the rubbery bumpers. They look shite and classy at the same time -  you cannot get better than that.

The only time I ever see pictures of these is on here

Ah yes, good spot advertising, thanks.  Yes, as has been pointed out this was Tonedepear's, and currently belongs to SWMBO.  It's in at least as good condition as it was when she bought it, and is quite excellent fun*.  It's also looking like the person due to view tonight has now dropped off the face of the earth, so anyone who ever wanted one of these: please PM me!

l love old saab 900's. Definitely one i must own someday, though a friend of mine had one and kind of put me off by telling me how much it cost him everytime he used it.

That giulietta is gorgeous too, such a rare sight now.

Which leads on nicely to this:

remember it from a few pages back ? I know it's in France and all, but still. Been in touch with the seller, he can't shift it and has decided to sell it through auction on the 29th of this month there:

vp auto 277 rue de Kerpont

ZI de Kerpont 56850 caudan

tel: 02/97/76/62/00

starting price 300 euro

details will appear here about a week before: www.vpauto.fr

He reckons it drives fine, isn't too rusty, and shouldn't need major work to obtain CT. Whatever that means.

He also says the auctioneers can store it for a bit while you make your way there.

Basically I want it, but as I can't drive it home for lack of CT and have no A-framing skills whatsoever, it doesn't seem like something I should reasonably get involved with. Also my dad will have a heart attack if he sees me arrive with this in tow. Surely there must be a Francophile / Italophile shiter here who fancies a cruise to Brittany and back ?
