Something like that, IIRC.  It is mega kill yerself depressing.  Makes L'Assommoir seem mucho cheery in comparison.  The whole twenty book shebang was on the radio last year, but I missed it.

 

PHACKTOID:  Zola, when in exile for pissing off the anti-Dreyfusards, holed up in a then chintzy hotel in Norwood, now a skanky flophouse. He thought Norwood was a dump.

I would say that's in the all-time top 10 ebay pictures!!! just fantastic, up there with the wanky yankee limo in a field next to a Little Tykes Kozy Koupe (anyone got that one? Still my favourite I think)
