That Umm Ambulance thing is worryingly close to me, it's hideous and I like it; if only I hadn't spent all my spare money on sensible things like a taxidermy bear and human skeleton and had more storage space and the time and energy to sort it out I'd be all over it.

My guess is the head was lifted and the wet liners came with it - seals at the bottom weren't replaced when they were pushed back down. The same had been done on an R12 I lumbered myself with was lucky enough to pick up for a song many years ago. There was lots of water driveling into the sump.

The same happened to my dad's first R16 without being dependent on outside assistance via lifting the head.

The connecting rods are probably still on the Autobahn near Mannheim.

£560 plus transport to Worcester, plus ebay fees and a day's time means he has to sell for £750plus to break even!

Not only that - he had 5 mins to look at it properly, prospective purchasers can now see at their leisure how crusty those box sections are inside.
