It's weird how it has absolutely know no similarity to the 68 charger. Normally you can see the progression but the 68 is totally different. This looks more like a Ford Cougar (not that one) or something.

Why should a car superseding a previous model have any resemblance to it?

The 66-67 Chargers look exactly like what they really are - fastback versions of the 66-67 Coronets.

For 1968 Chrysler Corp. made the Dodge Charger a standalone model line.

I was just saying it's interesting that it's so different. It must have been in an effort to compete with the other pony cars as the 68 charger has much more in common with a mustang or camero than it did with the 67 charger.

The Charger never was a Pony Car and is in a completely different league, namely Muscle Cars.

The '68 - '70 Chargers were built on the exact same platform as previously, i.e. the B-body one.

The Mopar Pony Cars were the Challenger and Barracuda lines, built on the E-body platform.

That 440 isn't MOT'd, and it hasn't been for some considerable time if ever, yet he claims to have put 'a couple of hundred miles' on it since he bought it...

I thought a pony car was just the cooking version of the same model? I.e a GT350 Mustang is a Muscle car but a 302 was a pony car. So the charger 318 or slant six would be a pony car and the 440 big block was a muscle car?

You thought wrong.

two many doors to be truly valuable, I'm afraid.

Nice looking motor, wonder what he wants to realise from the deal? based on the fact that I got my 49Chev 2dr on the road here for sub £4K and my 59 Galaxie on the road for sub £4500. There can't be much profit in that and to be honest, most interest will be from hot rodders wanting to rape it for the motor and front grill.

I think we can happily agree that this is neither a pony car nor a muscle car, and hopefully leave it at that.

I'd never heard of a Simca 5 - looks the dead spit of a Fiat Topolino to me.  Badge engineered or built under licence, presumably?

My plan was to take the body off the chassis and restore all the running gear and put the body back on how it is (I prefer the used look).

That was a very good plan.  Top man.

Neither, nor.

Société Industrielle de Mécanique et Carrosserie Automobile was directly founded and owned by Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino in 1934 for the

purpose to build Fiats in France. It was even called Simca-Fiat.

The first cars produced were the Fiat 508 Balillas and 518 Arditas, but called Simca-Fiat 6CV and 11CV respectively.

They were followed in 1936 by the Simca Cinq or 5CV, i.e. the Topolino, and in 1937 by the Simca Huit, or 8CV, i.e the Fiat 508C 1100.

The 5CV and the 8CV remained in production until the outbreak of World War II.

The firm nevertheless remained closely connected with Fiat (Italy being part of the Axis, remember?), and it was not until 1938 that the

shortened name "Simca" replaced "Simca-Fiat" to camouflage the fascist relation.

Now this is a pony car although no doubt it'll be pointed out it's a horse and not a pony

That Minor is quite nice but the seller is a classic. "CHAMPAIGN BRAINS" - referring to the kind of wally who can't spell Champagne, presumably.

What a collection thread this would make. After winning with 5 and 2 stars of course. I have no idea if this is expensive or not but it's so cool.

/\ despite a very intelligent write up he doesn't appear to have grasped the principle of "no reserve"

Bugger, I was writing about the Sunbeam but a whole lot of other stuff got posted whilst I was checking the difference between principal and principle

Oh yes, several of us had an Autoshite meet there way back in 2010 I think? It's in Bedfordshire, and it's well worth a visit, as it's full of tat.

Did they use the bonnet and wings from a 64 super minx as the front looks identical..... IMHO the minx front end looks better

I love these 80 Sports. I wanted my mum to buy one back in the early 90's but she got a Mk2 Golf GTI instead.

I do want one of these, and this is the colour and model I'd have, but at present I don't have £3.5k spare or the space

..... anyway I have made a quite low offer on the car, which I doubt it will be accepted, but I would be very happy if I did have the problem of finding somewhere to put it.
